Still doing this? *looks at his avatar*

How about a Boo or Big Boo (or Medium Boo) that will occasionally sneeze out fireballs in a downward direction while hiding from Mario (possibly aim/shoot faster while chasing?)? I could draw my own gfx, but a template would be nice (so that I know which tiles to draw over).

NINJI'd! Haha

EDIT: Figures, I got the bottom of the page... >.>

Just thought of adding a bit of irony by making this killable with fireballs (but nothing else).

Erm, it seems that Mr. Dad over here wasn't so serious about the Spring Cleaning as he let on about, so I was actually able to browse through C3 today... This is ackward... I thought I wouldn't be able to post today...

Here have a video!

Does this count as a triple-necro-bump? If so, should I merge my posts again?

I debated whether to post this in the ExGFX showoff thread or the palette thread, but since I'm actually using this for a level, I'll post it here. I've placed my comments under the screenshots.

Mario has entered Iggy's catsle, and is locked inside!

If you've played the demos or watched GvirusG's playthrough, then I'm sure you'll remember this puzzle.

Note to self: Shells hurt more when kicked at a wall.

The P-switch from the previous puzzle affects this segment.

Also: Podoboo.

The top-most castle GFX file can be used on its own, or combined with with other GFX for greater effect. Alternatively, one can use all 3 files for a tower or castle interior. Don't like parts of the files (like those 4 tiles in the lower right of the bricks)? Just draw over 'em with something else.

I was gonna put spoiler tags here, but I think I'll just let ya guys guess what each o' those letter'd graphics are.

Question: Why doesn't "Layer Priority Enabled" work in vertical levels? (granted, it'd probably be added difficulty, since most sprites seem to activate before Mario can get to them)

Man, all you guys are posting really nice stuff here. If only I had something decent to post...

So here's my new test room. (Linked 'cause it'd stretch the tables and aggravate a random moderator.)

W.I.P.

Black (temporarily) changed to Blue in YYCHR so I can actually see the difference between Black and Transparent.

Aaaand Done! (sorta)

I may have wasted too much space on fruity drinks...

(PS. Thanks for the comments! Thanks Yoshi Master, changing the transparency in YY-CHR to a sky-ish color seems to have helped.)

(PPS. Level 112 is my "End of Demo" level. I'm wanting to have more than a little hut this time.)

Note: Rather than bump my old thread, I have decided to make use of this new SubSubForum and post my wippy stuff here.

If you don't know what this is: Practice Makes Purrfect is an evolution of my very first hack, and features many a graphic-swap/exgfx made by mwah. Unfortunately, I'm not so great at music/coding of any kind, so it's ONLY Graphics-swaps and custom ExGFX (and music found here).
...
Practice Makes Purrfect is also apparently somehow a YouTube video of a cat playing a piano (somehow)... I did not know this when I started...

Anywho, my sorry excuse for a story, is

"Mario got lost on his way to the mailbox! Can he ever make it home before dinner?"

(Spoilers: Maybe.)

And now for a brickwall of screenshots sorted by Level and maybe having a comment.

Oh Fudge!! 1-1
Mario darts across some pools of fish and a Chuck filled staircase before navigating 3 sets of platforms in the middle of an airshow...

Where's Mario? (Hint: He's not dead)

This spot still gives me nightmares, what with the Bullet Bill generator and all...

Forest of Fudge 1-2
A forest level. Beware of the heavy over/undergrowth, as it conceals many an enemy...

After about 5 minutes of Lakitu induced panic (LIP), I finally got my act together.

Still trying to figure out why I picked this screenshot...

Ninji Tower 1-Fortress
Mario stumbles into a dark Pipe-loop populated by Ninjis and Footballers. Quickly learn to run on walls, and don't wast the patched balloon, or you may run out of time...

Introducing the Boiling Cauldron, a Lava Lotus replacement for the Ninji ExGFX I'm using.

My Sublevel budget was REALLY tight this time around.

The Harbor 1-3
Mario crashes many a party boat before diving underwater and returning to shore.

Goodbye docks, it was nice knowin' ya...

Introducing the metal tubing/plating I made while making this level. Not as useful as I thought...

Or maybe it is? I dunno anymore...

Hey! Those floating squares that shoot Teddies at ya actually make sense now! ... (Darn! Maybe I should reskin Torpedo Teds into Teddie Bears?)

Iggy's Catsle 1-Catsle
Mario is locked inside a dark lava filled castle, and must solve some puzzles before facing this ridiculously easy boss

A puzzle in review. (Also: No more multiple-choice! :D)

The P-Switch maze (basic as it is) yields a 1-up if you can manage the upper route (which I didn't :( ).

An Odd Cliff 2-1
Tricky platforms abound as Mario encounters a rare sight: A non-elevator vertical level.

Gah! I somehow managed to make some Tails_155 style terrain EVEN WITH custom ExGFX... #w{x(}

Um... Mid-point works... #w{:s}

Considering renaming this place to 'An Odd Climb', as there seems to be more 'Climb' than 'Cliff'.

WTForest 2-2
What the... forest?

Hmm, what's this impenetrable wall blocking my path?

Oh...

Ninji Tower 2.0 2-Fortress
This tower has a lobby this time. The meat of the level features a quick drop down, and a treacherous climb up. Take too long, though, and you will once again run out of time.

Before you complain, I set the Pokey up like this intentionally... Unless you're complaining about the palette, in which case, I guess I could lighten it up a bit.

At least the loooooooooooong fall down isn't totally pointless...

Sunset Bridge 2-3
Mario's meandering has brought him to a bridge, in the middle of a pirate attack! The attacking planes change pattern after the mid-point.

I'M ON A BOAT!!! (On a more serious note, this presents a problem. Ya see, I drew the boat ExGFX LONG AFTER The Harbor's wooden boats were afloat. So should I go back and rebuild those boats with the new Boat ExGFX? Or...)

Also, I decided to change the type of bridge being attacked.

Ok, so Lunar Magic says I need to set SP4 to 05 in order for the 'Fuzzball/Sparky, ground-guided, left/right (X&1)' to show up correctly, right? K, so I put a fuzzy-like object on my ExGFX, at the spot where the Fuzzball is on GFX05, and looks right in Lunar Magic, right? Why does a crazy Chuck head from GFX13 show up instead? Is there an extra bit I need to set or something? Am I using the wrong Tileset? Huh? #w{:<}

EDIT: Ok, MOST of the time I pixel my own foregrounds in. I think the Beach House and the Ninji Towers have some/most of the original graphics.

Also, I just now (by "just now" I mean an hour ago) finished Twilit Lake.

Mario is about 2/3rd scale compared to the characters in the game this mess came from.

The 'cutoff' here can be explained in that I am taking a side of a 3D object, and trying to mash it into a 3d space...
It could also be explained in that I ran out of room for outlines.

Original Tileset: Cityscape/Dalaran (Cityscape palette swap, purple bricks on the Map16 page).
Not included: 1) The other cliff from this tileset. You guys have enough dirt walls lyin' around for that. 2) The "doodads" (i.e. Street Lamps, Flower Beds, a checkerboard box from where a custom model didn't import properly, etc...)

Rant about nothing aside, I recommend this for backgrounds, city/ruins/sewer walls, or anyone clever enough to use it better than I did here.

Wow Spud, those look really nice! I really like that Fire Flower :D
