Hi there. I'm new here.

Most people know me as Dave Phaneuf (mostly from vgmusic in this case.) But here I'll be MidiGuy. ^^

Anyway, I've been noticing the music that's being made here and thought I'd make a request, if anyone's interested.

I've always liked the Sigma Battle from MMX and wondered how it would sound MW style.

I prepared a Mario World version of the midi I made of the Sigma battle way back then, which is five channels. I read that 4 channels max is recomended for melodies. The channels are:

Channel 1: Slap Bass
Channel 2: Guitar
Channel 3: Marimba
Channel 4: Strings
Channel 10: Percussion (I used 2 different samples)

MW Instrument 2 would probably also be good for channel 3.



By the way, I had a few questions:

1.Is the reason for the 4 channel melody limit the SFX, or is it that it cuts off randomly at Channels 4-7?
2.Are you able to insert instrument changes at the moment?

Ah SFX. I thought that was the reason. Though using them for echo wouldn't be too bad, or for a instrument that always has 2 notes playing at the same time.

I remade the midi to sound like it probably would in Mario World, using the instruments used in the game.
The song doesn't have any instrument changes, other than the percusion that's alternating between the kick and snare. I made sure that the kick and snare never played at the same time, allowing it to be used in the same channel.

I had another question: What decides the size of the song? Length? Notes? Both?
The song I sent you is really fast and has alot of notes, but is very short so if both affect the filesize than even though it's so short I still wondered if it would end up a reasonable filesize.

Hey guys.

After I made my post light night, I finally realized the rest of the stuff about making a song that I didn't realize before, and after studying how the .txt files generally work, I knew how to go about making a song.

Here's my first spc rendition, SMK - Mario Wins. I thought I'd start out with something really short to get a good feel of how to do this.

I have 2 versions:
-a 5 Channel version with Ch0-3 for melody and 5 for percussion.
-a 7 Channel version with Ch0-3 for melody, 5 for percusion and 4 and 6 for melody accomp, for those that don't mind channels 4&6 cutting off whenever you hear a SFX used by that channel.

I checked the sounds as well. Channels 4 & 6 have the most SFX assigned to them. Channel 5 is intended for the Yoshi Bongo's I think, and channel 7 only has the Jumping Sound and The Saw, but then again you jump all the time so I guess 7 would still be the most used.

EDIT: I updated the .txt file just a tad, forgot to write in the title at the top. X-x

I made an update to the YI - Boss Battle song.

I had forgotten about the Ocarina instrument, I tried it and it seemd to work out good. I left the other version in the zip file as well for those who prefer the Rhodes Piano for the main melody.

Could a mod delete the other version?

Really? In the spc rar it said Rambi Rumble, but I always wondered if that was the real name. Rambi Run does sound more apropriate for the situation you're in.

Hi there. ^^

I've been working on a hack of my own very slowly but surely for a while now. And it's been progressing alright.

Here's some screens:



This is World 2.



This is how World 2 looks when there are only secret exits left to get. Here it's quite easy to tell where they probably are. Secret exit paths also look a bit different than normal exit paths.



This is 2-4, an airship level. The 'M' is one of filve letter coins that spell 'Mario'. Inspired off of DKC.



Here's how the normal exit looks. (Just touching the flag finishes the level.)



Secret Exit flags are Red, like in NSMB.

I've come a long way so far.

But before I go any further I've been wanting to get caught up in crediting people for the things I've been using in the hack (ExGFX, Sprites, Patches, etc.). I've taken down most of the names but I'm stuck on the sprites. As I'm having trouble finding out who made them or even If I'm allowed to use them. This is where I need some help.

I'm quite sure there's a few of mikeyk's sprites that I missed, as well as some by MiOr. And I know there are a handful of them that come from a japanese hack named STARSW I believe, but I'm not 100% sure who made them or If I'm allowed to use them.

Can you figure out the songs? There's 5 Bowser Related songs in all. Some play a big part in the arrangement, while others only show up for a moment.

When you say Non-Nintendo Snes game, do you mean a game from a series that are not exclusivley on the Nintendo systems?
Like Megaman or Final Fantasy for instance.

Or games that were not at all created by nintendo but on the Snes?

Or do you mean a game that is not on the Snes at all?
