Heya. :)

I'd like to make a layout request for anyone who has the time. ^^

I've been seeing alot of layouts lately and I've starting to want my own to make my posts look more unique.

Here's a plan I made quickly:

The Background for this is here: Download

It wouldn't have to be exact, but similar. I'll defenitely credit whoever would make it. ^^ (Hope the background size is not too big)

Hiya. ^^

I had made a layout request a while ago. But just now I realized that the image I provided was not a good choice if the post needed to be streched, so I went and modified it a little.

Here's the new one:

Here's the background without the text boxes :

If anyone could make a layout based on that plan and background, It would be great. And I'll defenitley credit you for it. ^^

I was actually gonna ask you about that. ^^

But I went and re-copied the code a second time and now it's all good. Must've copied something I should not have last time.

Thanks again. :)

EDIT: By the way, I went and uploaded all the images used in the layout to my account, so it saves a little bandwidth on yours. ^^

Hiya there. Cloud Man sounds really nice, though the marimba at the begining is a little loud. I'd turn it down just a little. ;)

I've been sending quite a few songs to the custom music section. Pretty much all of them from Mario All-Stars.

Though there's a few All-Stars songs that didn't seem to have made it in the main section:
SMB - Underwater
SMB2 - Wart
SMB3 - Airship
SMB3 - Fortress

I was just wondering why these didn't make it in. None of these have been ported, well except the nes Underwarer and Airship.

I know that All-Stars music can be inserted via alternative means, but I thought it would be convienent be able to control which ones you want too, and be able to insert other music too in the same hack. Because as far as I know, once you insert the All-Stars music patches, you can't insert any other custom music, I think. (Correct me if I'm wrong.)

Though I saw that my SMB2 Overworld made it in. just curious to know why these didn't. ^^

Really?! Wow I had no idea. Alrighty then, I'll look out for that. ^^

Are these the ones I have to look out for?

q3F, q2F, q1F, etc
Any command looking like "$DD$XX$YY$ZZ"

Though do I only have to make a space after the Hex Value?
Like "e4e4q3F e4e4"
Or is it better to seperate them on both sides?
Like "e4e4 q3F e4e4

Just want to make sure, so I don't make any more mistakes. ^^

EDIT: I checked my smb2 overworld and I think I understand now. As long as the value after the hex command is not "0-F" I think even if I don't put a space, it'll be ok. I think that's why by smb2 overworld was accepted. Though either way I think I'll put spaces anyway. ^^

I can't remember everything about this, but I'll try to help.

-Did you install any All-Star Music patches to your rom?
-What number are you trying to insert the overworld music at?
-I can't remember the filesize limit for the overworld music, is the Breegul Beach the song your trying to insert? It may be too big, but I'm not sure.

I have no idea if this will help or not, but...if it does, then yay. ^^

By the way, I've fixed the hex problems with the 4 songs and I've resubmited them (Wart,Airship,Underwater,Fortress). Hopefully, they're all good now. :)

That sounds real nice overall Lachesis. Pretty solid. :)

Here's my latest song for Mario World:

Super Mario All-Stars - SMB1 Overworld

This one was a long one. As far as I know, this is the longest song in the All-Stars soundtrack. O.o

Well, hope you like it. ^^

I really have no idea where to post this, but this seems to be the section with the most music related topic, so I guess I'll post it here.

Anyway...

Hey everyone, MidiGuy here. :)

I'm posting here to annouce the completion of something I've been working on for over a year.

A year ago, I started making some All-Stars music. Then after a while I thought to myself "Would it be nice to well... make them all? ^^" So as alot of people probably noticed, I've been uploading a buttolocks load of All-Stars music lately. ^^

So after alot of hesitation, and pushing myself to do it, today I have finally finished it, with the Lost Levels Title Screen being the last one and without a doubt probably the hardest one too. O.o

So without furthur ado, here is:

The Super Mario All-Stars to Super Mario World Remake Soundtrack

This includes absoulutey every song in All-Stars. I went and made sure I did them all. (Hopefully I didn't miss any). A few have been updated a bit as well. ^^

If there's any troubleshooting, let me know and I'll try to fix it.

Well, that's about it for this announcement. Hope you like the songs. :)

There are still cases that they'd want to use the All-Stars music patch. Mainly, to get the exact sound.
As some of them are a little different since you don't have all the All-Stars instruments in Mario World, well unless you insert the banks. ^^

I was thinking of adding it to the music section too, but like you said, it's quite a big file size, especially if you're looking for just a single file.

Though believe it or not, I did not use the N-SPC patch when making these. I only used the commands that you can use without the patch (Mainly the Tempo slide, Pitch slide and Volume slide.)

Though It's nice to finish another soundtrack remake (The first was Yoshi's Safari in midi format. ^^)

Thanks! I went and uploaded the 7z file to the custom music section.

I went and added .zip to the filename so it would get in.

Though if it would be better to upload zipfiles, then I'll split them into pieces and do it that way.

I was thinking of C3, but I would've had to wait a good while, when was it again? I forget... ^^

I uploaded the New Mario Bros Ghost House theme. I always felt that All-Stars needed one of these. So I thought I'd make the one from NSMB.

It's slightly arranged, so the presisions is a little more off than usual, but it works. ^^

Hiya everyone.

I really havn't shown much from my hack I'm making have I?

I went I tried making a boss and this is what I got.
I call him, Huff 'n' Puff Jr. :)

Ignore the status bar. :p

<object width="500" height="405"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/9bI8HeWUyqw&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x5d1719&color2=0xcd311b&border=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/9bI8HeWUyqw&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x5d1719&color2=0xcd311b&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="500" height="405"></embed></object>

He has no hands and is smaller, hence the Jr. part. ^^

Made with the Ultimate Noob Boss by iceyoshi. (I truly don't know anything about ASM. X-x)

By the way, could anyone tell me how I could go about giving it the "Stomp on the boss" sound effect you hear in most boss battles? I was wondering how since you don't hear anything on this one.

Wow thanks! Though I'm guessing I gotta copy this somewhere in the asm file. Can it be anywhere, or do I have to put it at a specific place? Sorry, I truly don't know where to put it. X-x

Well, most of the credit would go to iceyoshi, he's the one that made the starting sprite (Ultimate Noob Boss).

Find the interaction routine, the part where the boss's hit points are affected, and place the code there. (I don't know how that boss is coded per se, but that should do it.) Also, that actually isn't the correct sound effect to use if you want it to sound like an SMW boss. (I know; I tried it.) I don't remember what it does sound like, but I used LDA #$28 STA $1DFC for my boss.

Yeah, that's the sound I'm looking for.

I tried it, though I'm hearing the sound, but not exactly at the right places. O.o

In one situation, it kept repeating it'self, while in another situation, it played whenever the bullet bills shot.

Just seem to find the right interact routine, seems like there's more than one. (Considering the amount of features. ^^)

Heya. ^^

I've made some updates to the Huff 'n' Puff Jr. Boss.

Last night I finally studied asm a little bit, so I was able to dive a little deeper and fine tune the boss some more:

<object width="445" height="364"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/YgO0SNcFHus&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x5d1719&color2=0xcd311b&border=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/YgO0SNcFHus&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x5d1719&color2=0xcd311b&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="445" height="364"></embed></object>

I studied asm a little and found out where to put the code for the SFX. Thanks again for the code. ^^

Hi there, name's MidiGuy.

I've recently come to like this boss. (Already used it for 1 of my
custom bosses.)

And I was just wondering if I could help just a little help with
creating a new routine for it.

What I'd like to do is make a routine where the boss will automaticly
lose a hit point after a certain amount of time, allowing us to make a session where the boss could go crazy after taking a hit, then calm
down after that set amount of time.

Like it would be like this:

STATE8:
JSR Move
JSR JumpHurt
RTS

STATE7:
JSR Move
JSR GoCrazyfor5secondsthenlose1hpautomaticly (Yeah, long feature I know :p)
RTS

STATE6:
JSR Move
JSR JumpHurt
RTS

So Im guessing it would probably look something like this:

Code
AutoHPLoseTimer:
"Timer Code (This is what I'd need.)"
DEC $1528,x (I believe this is the code the subtracts the health
right?)

Then like the rest of the feautures it could be used with a "JSR
AutoHPLoseTimer" at a certain STATE.

I still don't know much about asm, but from what I gather it would probably look somewhat like this.

Anyway, if anyone could help out with this, that would be great. :)

The DEC command mainly means -1 if I'm right?

So for it to subtract 1 from value $1528 (Which is mainly the hp.)

So for this to subtract 1 I'd have to program it to once the timer reaches zero.

What I mainly want to do, is make it skip a certain state after a certain amount of time, since the sprite allows you to set it's actions on each HP. So for one HP State, I would set it in a way that Mario cannot hurt it at all, but after a while it would just sort automaticly lose one HP so it would go to the next state where mario can hurt it again.

Like in this example: (STATE8=8Hp, STATE7=7HP...etc)
Code
STATE8:
JSR Move
JSR JumpHurt
RTS

STATE7:
JSR Move
DEC $1528,x
RTS

STATE6:
JSR Move
JSR JumpA
JSR JumpHurt
RTS

So once mario jumps on the spirte during state 8, it goes to state 7 seeing as it now has 7 hp. But that state doesn't have any ways to hurt mario. Instead the hp just goes down automaticly after a while to 6. So state 7 would be considered the angry state pretty much.

So in this situation at the moment, the moment mario jumps on the sprite and it goes to STATE7 (7hp), it'll right away lose another hp and go to state6. Though I mianly want to know to put a timer, so it does "DEC" right away.

When you said 60 (As 60hz being 1 second) where would a put this 60? In the place of x? After another command?

Could you show me how it would look through example?

Sorry I'm asking all these questions. I still don't understand the deep details of asm much, or barley even. O.o

EDIT: Okay, I think I understand a little of what your saying. Value $1558 is the timer, while $1528 is the hp am I close with the example?
EDIT2, I modified it a bit:

Code
LDA $FF
STA $1558
DEC 60
STA $1558
DEC $1528, x

So this is what I hope I did:
-I loaded value $FF (255) and stored to value $1558
-Then I did DEC 60 and stored to value $1558 to cause value FF to go down by 60 a second
-Then once it reaches 0, DEC $1528, x executes.

Am I getting warmer? ^^

Ok, I think I can do this now.

JSR JumpHurt goes to the routine that enables mario to hurt the sprite when he jumps on it.

I've already added a sfx on that very routine, so I'm quite sure I know exactly where to put the timer now.

So, would it look something like this?

Code
JumpHurt:
LDA #60
STA $1558,x
DEC $1528,x
...Other commands in routine...

;Once mario jumps on the sprite, timer is activated, and value $1528 (hp) is decreased by 1.

STATE8:
JSR Move
JSR JumpHurt
RTS

STATE7:
JSR Move
LDA $1558,x
BNE NotZeroYet
DEC $1528,x
RTS
NotZeroYet:
RTS

RTS STATE6:
JSR Move
JSR JumpA
JSR JumpHurt
RTS

Though I think I'd have to make a 2nd jump hurt routine for this to work (One with a timer, one without), unless every hit would work like this.
