User Bio

Peace! Hi there!
I'm known here as Yakibomb.

Hey, Yakibomb here. Thanks for visiting my profile! I've never written one of these personal profiles before, so maybe I should start by saying I love to write my thoughts down, and I'm not entirely sure why I haven't done this sooner! I'm friendly, if you ever want to talk, you're welcome to PM me or contact me on the forum. I promise I won't try to bite!

If you haven't stopped reading, let me tell you about myself. I am in my early twenties and am an avid ROM hacker and story-writer. I don't have much knowledge of 65c816 ASM, but I do have experience making games for nearly a decade, starting with The Games Factory from Clickteam making original and Mario fan games for Mario Fan Game Galaxy, then later moving onto ROM hacking using level editors and other such programs. I've been writing my thoughts down over the past two years and now I'm in the mood to write a story for a hack as well.

I've been around ever since SMWCentral's conception from Acmlm (I think it was Acmlm), but for some reason never made an account here until a few years after. I found SMW hacking through a link to FuSoYa's domain on Wikipedia, which I found to be taken down a little time later, so I came across it by sheer luck. Had I not found that link, I would not be here.

After I had played Super Demo World: The Legend Continues, I was inspired to make my own Super Mario World hack. In truth, although I had been brainstorming for years to make a hack, it never left the planning table. I've only made one level called "The Mystic Crack Palace" (Yeah, I was weird back then). I've thought of what my hacks might be like after I finished, but I never even got up to start one!

Years later, I came across Omega and Giangurgolo's Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars editor: Lazy Shell. It instantly became an interest to me, and ever since then I've been wanting to hack the game to bits. SMRPG is a game from my childhood, one that I was raised with. I believe Mario is one of my role models. Really! It is quite silly but that's the truth.

Today, I am passionate about hacking Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. It's my all time favorite game just before Tetris Attack. (Which by the way I'm pretty good at, and if you ever want to play, hit me up!) My goal is to make a full SMRPG:LotSS hack with a new story, game-play, and surprises for the player to experience. I'm still growing up to be the person I want to be, but in the mean time I'm a hacker, and I say IT'S TIME TO HACK!

That's all you really need to know about me. Thanks for reading about me! Again, if you ever want to talk to me, PM me or contact me on the forum, I'll try to respond to you in a timely manner. I'm pretty friendly, and I won't try to bite!

Hack I was working on:

(Click to go to the SMRPG hack)

About the hack's background: I started to brainstorm this SMRPG hack some time between 2009-2010, then finally it officially took off in development on Dec 1st, 2014. It will be a fan-made sequel that builds off the original SMRPG story. It'll feature returning characters in a new light, but also feature new characters, including new playable ones. I aspire to give the player an experience of new surprises and engagement within the game. I go by these rough quotes:

"Surprises make a game." - I forget who (maybe Kojima?)

"The show's entertainment is all about the people who watch the show, not about the lives of the actors." - Some dude on an NHK documentary.

I hope that in time and with enough effort, I will make one of the greatest SMRPG hacks for years to come! But who am I kidding, it'll probably be a corrosive cesspool of a fan-fic. Who knows what'll happen in the coming months! I'm keeping my head up. :D

You can check out the story and development of the hack in the main thread.
