Length: 85 exit(s)
Type: Standard: Easy
Description: Super Mario Bros. 5 Reborn is a near total revamp of a hack I created and canceled back in 2007.

After saving Peach and beating Bowser on the Starlight Islands, the Mario Bros, Yoshi, and Peach decide to take a vacation in the Kola Kingdom, far away from Bowser and his princess-kidnapping antics. During their vacation, they discover that Bowser has apparently taken over the Mushroom Kingdom. He's even sent the Koopalings to steal the Star Keys that keep the warp between the Kola and Mushroom Kingdoms open. Can the Mario Bros. recover the Star Keys to re-open the warp and save their homeland?

Custom music
Custom sprites
Custom blocks from its Demo World base
ASM patches/hex edits
No princess saving

fixme: Lunaria's Overworld music makes a loud noise before playing on accurate emulators, due to not enough rest before echo definition.

I can confirm that this hack DOES work with the SD2SNES cartridge!

Luansilva12, I fixed those a LONG time ago. That removal log was from a DEMO, and is EXTREMELY old. This is the full release.

This hack was removed by exit1337 in 2011-01-02. Here is what he siad:
EDIT: OOPS! The pictures are wrong. Fixing them now.
EDIT2: Fixed!

Wrong corner tile!

The box cuts into the tree.

False tile in the water (between the yellow switch island and the main island; left of Mario!)

False tile where the icebergs are (I call them icebergs now to make things easier).

False tile on the right side.

False tile on the hill right of the red level.

Here, Mario exits the pipe one tile too high.

Very minor, but the way could get improved (smoother edges). The way from the red level to the castle.

Mario's face is fucked up when he's flying.

This one is useless.

Cutoffness again. (Directly right from Mario's head; also several tiles above)

Now for the real removal reason:

In the level before the 1st castle, there is this pipe and if Mario enters it...

... he'll walk in an original level which is already against our rules, but if he moves on until the pipe at the end and enters it...

... he'll be trapped in this glitched room until the timer runs out.

Fix this. (Simply replace the exit-enabled pipe with a regular one.)

One last thing:

Instead of a test level with a glitchy background, you could have made a proper level for a demo end.

Did you fixed these errors?

Which world plays the lunaria's ow music?

This hack is a decent one. The design is okay, even if extremly linear: it's super easy to complete, as well as finding secret exits and so on. It's a bit monotonous in terms of difficulty, it's like you can't feel the difficulty increasing as you keep going forward. I personally didn't enjoy it too much, since there is really no variation from level to level, except the graphics. There are different gimmicks rarely, I wish there were more original ideas other than just a plain level of enemies.

The good aspects cover mainly the aesthetics: I'm not into this kind of style, but it's very well done and executed smoothly throughout the whole 85 exits this hack is made of. I can tell the author put lots of efforts into this aspect, and it does its job well I must say. You can spot some minor cutoff issues here and there, but it's nothing too noticeable.

As only issue, lunaria ow's music makes a loud noise on accurate emulators. I'm addressing a fixme tag for this, but if it's not the case, feel free to remove it.

Overall, it's a good hack for those who like super easy hacks. Don't expect too much stuff going on in this though.
