Dang. This is seriously a breakthrough for HDMA. I remember when we were only given a set of HDMA gradients to work with. But now the possibilities are endless because of this simple, yet effective tool. Many thanks @JackTheSpades!

Hey um, how do you save the settings for a specific level and to save this into the rom?

The original game doesn't intend for other HDMA to be running during levels, so message boxes directly write to $0D9F instead of setting the appropriate bits. This can be fixed by hex editing $05B129 and $05B296 (see the ROM map).

Effect Tool is awesome, making HDMA-related effects like gradients and parallax scrolling very easy to add to levels in my hack.

Do be warned that hitting a info box in the game will usually make all effects stop working; I've only seen a gradient reappear after the message disappears.

If you're using UberASMTool make sure you changed all RTS to RTL for it to not crash in-game

Anything I've generated with this tool always leads to a black screen on level start with the off chance of a spectacular crash after waiting a while.

Though I seem to be the only one with issues, unless there is someone else?

When I first downloaded this (same version), it kept crashing on startup. However, a few days later (the only thing I've done is restarted once), it's working like a charm.

It works perfectly for me! :D

Anyways, nice tool! Makes HDMA easier.

I have trouble getting it to start up, but it works.

Please fix the crashing, I open it, it runs for a second or two then closes.

Not sure what's up with all this crash talk, I've not had this tool crash on me once.

Also, Konata, it would not be Vitor who'd need to fix the crashing. That'd be JackTheSpades.

Can you finally add the function for adding screenshots for waves, Parallax etc?
