This patch replaces the 1/2 player menu with a menu that makes you choose between 'NORMAL' and 'HARD' mode. Note that this patch only prepares $7E:0DB2 to be used as a 'hard game mode' check, and otherwise does nothing to make the game more difficult - except speed up the timer and one-hit kills. This patch is most useful with custom sprites.
Really? You can't change the text of them? (Glitches the background graphics) Is there a way to change the limit of how many text it should display on the top and bottom? I want Regular Mode and Expert Mode. It shows Regular Mod with the the last E for first one and the Expert Mode missing for some stupid reason.
I don't really like tinkering with custom sprites, but this still makes the game harder nonetheless. This is awesome, and the best part is that there's actually a reason to have the 1 and 2 player select screen
An easy way of implementing a hard mode setting. The patch gets a lot better if you're willing to tinker a bit with custom sprites. It shouldn't be too hard even if you're unfamiliar with ASM, since the readme is pretty thorough.
