Review
Video LP
I'll do this review level-by-level.

Happy Island:
I don't find anything special about this level. It's just first level... really. Also, I find small pipes color a lil bit too bright.
4/10
Deepest cave:
This level a bit better than previous level. First half is verticall scroll, second is skull riding. It's not too special, but it's something. I like some sprties setups here and there, so, it's a solid kevel.
7/10
Evening Adventure:
This level is about rotating platforms. I'd say I like how sprites here placed too, making this level being fun too.
7/10
Way to the castle
I feel that checkpoint was too close to the beginning. Second half is dark underground with mechakoopas. I already showed mechakoopa's glitched GFX when you bring it to the pipe in the video. I like place were you need to jump on timed platforms and you can't get on one of them when in water. But again, the gimmicks are generic.
5/10
Castle of iggy:
There's one place that isn't easy to go throught without getting hit, you need to wait untill fishbone will swim out of the spiky tunnel. Also, before door mesage says you need to be fast... how I supposed to be very fast if there's autoscroll? I know that it's medium one, but it's not really fast. Also, yeah, smasher and ceiling problem.
5/10
Forgotten Island:
There's problem with FG's palette in underwater section. I'd make outlines visible (black).
This is the longest level in the game... I think. I don't have anything to say about it, underwater section is boring.
4/10
Sweet Desert:
Well... I kinda like this level, but it seems starnge that after long level this short. IDK, enemies placement is OK? There's one place were you need to wait untill pokey will fall down, which is not nice.
5/10
OVERALL:
Well, levels not that special, sometimes they do have gimmicks, but they're too generic. Sometimes you need to wait for something, which is not nice. Level doesn't usually have anything special about them. Overall score is 5/10.

Well, I just finished my playthrough of this hack, and I must say, it's nothing too special. Well, first things first:

LEVEL DESIGN: 6/10 - There are levels that have a quite noticeable amount of cutoff (particularly the castle level)... But basically, the levels can get pretty boring at times even though they are short, they sometimes are pretty bland, some levels have annoying enemy placement, some levels have palettes that do not go easy on the eyes, however, there's one particular level that has a very awkward jump to make, and that level is Iggy's Castle. It's basically one of the last jumps until the boss door. I didn't see what's so "sweet" about the levels. There were no creative ideas or anything like that.

OVERWORLD: 7/10 - It's average, nothing too special, however, I noticed some... Weird tiling in the first (and only submap at the time I've wrote this). I've seen worse, yet I've seen much, much better, so in comparison, it falls quite flat.

FUN: 5/10 - I did not have much fun with this hack. Or any fun at all. I know I sound very negative, but I honestly did not enjoy the levels. I get it that this is Vanilla, but could at least try to make something interesting? I mean, don't get me wrong, there ARE signs of good level design in these levels, however, there's one fatal flaw in them: they're BORING. Maybe you should look at the Vanilla Level Design Contests 7 and 8 for some inspiration to make more interesting levels. And please, PLEASE avoid making more annoying/awkward jumps in later levels, that is, if you're going to make more levels for this... I actually really want to see if this can get better, so remember: Stay determined!

DIFFICULTY: 6/10 - The levels are really easy, however, the enemy placement and some stage hazards can be at really obnoxious places, making the levels seem quite unfair. Still, better easy than Kaizo levels of hard.

OVERALL: 6/10 - Could be much, much worse, however could also be much, much better. Again, nothing too special in this hack. But, don't forget: Stay determined!

Not much more that I can see that Eternity hasn't said already. I enjoyed the levels, the castle gave me quite a surprise and I found it pleasantly challenging, outside of the low ceiling hiding the falling pillars. One of those things got a cheap shot in. Other than that, I think if you can refine your in-level mechanics and ideas, you are on your way to having a solid hack idea.

3/5 stars.

I honestly wasn't expecting a lot from this, but this is a pretty solid hack! The levels were fun for the most part, with some nice (but a tad too generic) design and average aesthetics. The only notable issue I remember is the castle's last room, where the low ceiling makes it hard to see where the layer 3 pillar will smash, possibly leading to blind hits. Other than that, nice job!

Also I found a bit weird how the plot was on the first level - you could just have used the intro's message box :p

3/5 stars.
