Length: 5 exit(s)

Description: A demo of the training kaizo hack I made (this hack was started a long time ago). This is an introdutcion to the kaizo world that require lots of skill and glitch knowledge.

And if you meet a training that is to difficult with you, you can just use the pipe at the beginning of each level to skip the entire training (but you won't be able to earn the bonus at the end of the level).

Have fun!

I know this is a really old hack, but how can you take screenshots of the levels you made without having realised the many issues with them? How do you miss out on the softlock on 1-2?

Untested hack. Next time play your own hack before submitting it.

I love the idea of a kaizo training hack, with each level dedicated to a particular trick/gimmick. I gave this one a shot because I'm getting into kaizo hacks and I thought that this would a) give me nice training rooms to practice tricks in and/or b) give me some instruction on kaizo tricks. This hack offers neither of those things, unfortunately, and so fell flat for me. Maybe I'm missing the point of the hack, though?

If these levels are meant to help you practice/improve your kaizo skills, they are certainly not set up that way. For instance, in the shell jumping level if you miss the very first shell jump you have to exit the level and start again. That's...not a very efficient way to practice. Then, once you get it, you have to do the exact same shell jump again but this time you can die from the muncher. This offers no additional challenge, really, just potentially more time between attempts (especially because the 0 seconds on the timer means that you have to wait through both the death animation and the TIME UP screen after every death - very annoying). That's the opposite of what a practice room should do. If I want to practice shell jumps, I could just go to VD secret 2 instead, where there are koopas and high walls on both sides so I won't lose the shells. A shell-jump practice hack needs to be more efficient than that.

If these levels are meant to teach you something...well, they also don't really do that. The mushroom level has some cool applications of the spin jump clip, but it's not really a puzzle level per se. And I guess it's good to learn that trick, but a) you could just learn it from watching a panga world run, b) I haven't really seen this used in a lot of hacks so it hardly seems like a trick worth dedicating an entire training level to, and c) it's not difficult whatsoever. If you know that you CAN do it, you just do it. It's not like other tricks like shell-jumping that require some training. And speaking of shell-jumping, a thing that's actually difficult, the shell jump level doesn't teach you anything. The only way to not die or have to exit the level is to already be able to do a sj first try. The info block gives you no useful information other than "it's possible to shell jump," basically. A training level would ideally have some visual cues set up for you and a no-risk environment in which to practice.

Oh, and speaking of the coin maze thing that people are talking about. It's actually a neat trick. But, if you don't get it you're stuck in that part of the level. I had to reset. 30 seconds into playing the hack.

So, I guess I'm confused about the point of this hack. It didn't do either thing that I was led to believe it would (provide practice areas and/or training for hard tricks). That's fine I guess, but I didn't really have any fun and felt like I spent over half my time with this hack just waiting to exit levels, watch the TIME'S UP screen, and reset when I got stuck in 1-2. After about 10 minutes of this I was done.

Cool idea, though. Things that would help, imo:
1. a retry dialog via asm
2. either a way to kill yourself in every area or the ability to start-select out of levels that you haven't cleared
3. actually, why not just make all levels open from the get-go? having to bypass them by going through the pipe and cross the goal seems pointless

tl;dr, Cool idea but wasn't any fun. Could be greatly improved by adding time-saving features to bypass waiting/cutscenes.

I enjoyed this little hack. I don't see how 1-2 is impossible. It's a little kaizo coin maze, which I personally haven't seen in another hack. Anyways, great job and I hope you finish this. It's definitely helpful for people who want to get into kaizo hacks.

Good idea, I liked the shell jumping level, but level 1-2 is impossible like MatKubik83 said. The 2nd part with the P switch, only 2 coins come out of the block meaning it will not reach the platform to do the floor clipping trick

This hack is good for me XD

@MatKubik83 What do you mean "2 pieces"?
Posted by: SuperMarisa1999 - | Link
there are only 2 pieces (I made a mistake)

It's a very good idear for training ! I like this hack but in the first level the second part with the P switch ,in the block there are 2 pieces , is it normal ?
