Doesn't seem to work unless I place it like 10+ tiles above lava. If the issue is on my end that is weird.

Made the sprite SA-1 compatible and moved the direction check to extra bit instead of extra byte in the moderation process.

Don't forget to enable "Sprite Buoyancy" if you use this.
