Note that this works by spawning a custom map16 tile: if it were merely sprites it'd be overkill. Because of that, don't put a lot of them in a single screen or you'll get black bars at the top.

I'm using Retry Patch, and I noticed timing inconsistency. When entering level from OW, laser appears earlier than when retrying and appearing at the same entrance.

Added the routine file needed for the sprite to be SA-1 compatible to the .zip for now.

Technically works on SA-1, but a routine is incompatible.
If you get crashes, go to GetMap16.asm in the routines folder and change LDA #!BankA>>16+1 to LDA.b #!BankA>>16+1
