Pokemon Hacker
I love it, the variety of NPC's is amazing

Nonsense, Wakana is perfect just the way she is.
Posted by: FailSandwich - | Link
Wakana needs a bigger rack <3 . Other than that I loved this game. The variety of music used is outstanding, every hack should do this but most don't

I was disappointed, this hack says it contains weed. Yet I was unable to extract and roll the weed up.

Speaking as someone relatively new to playing SMW hacks, this one is pretty amazing. Lots of gimmicks that would have never been found in the original SMW, superb spritework, and in my opinion fantastic level design. The difficulty is fairly low as well, when it comes to SMW hacks I often have issues with the difficulty (For instance, the world 1 castle in Super Demo World TLC gives me trouble, and I also have trouble with the very first level in VLDC2014. N00b I know) but even the hardcore levels in Super Wakana Land are able to be passed with a bit of persistence. Definitely a hack that can be completed without save states.

My only real complaint is that sometimes the ground pound can be a bit too easy to trigger leading to some bad deaths, though that may be an issue with execution on the part of the player, and of course the hack is unfortunately not compatible with real hardware which is a shame because it feels like the sort of game you'd find in some yard sale that you've never heard of and when you pop it in it's just a hidden gem that never got the exposure it needed, so being able to pop it in a flashcart or even a repro cartridge would be nice for ultimate authenticity.

aside from everything else, this is the best use of gradients i've seen in a hack ever

if someone asks how to play with znes, before running the game enable the option pal and open the game, it works for me.#tb{^V^}

This hack is simply amazing, it barely resembles SMW and that's what I like to see in hacks.

The graphics work well and the use of HDMA was spot on. The music in "Sudden darkness" is the best SNES music I've ever heard. I'd like to know what it's called or where it's from.

Wow! There is a HUGE work in this hack.

To whoever interested: there's a "pure" version in the works, which gets rid of the NSFW content in the hack.

Best hack ever.

There's a bug on "Ancient Building", where you fight the bosses, even after you cleared the level.

@AlexisRZ123 Don't use ZSNES. Go with ZMZ if you want to use a working emulator with the same UI as ZSNES.

@catboyjeremie Thank you for the review! If you enjoyed it lots, you may consider nominating it for featuring.

I never reviewed a hack before but I feel this one is particularly notable. Not only is this an excellent hack but it's also very refreshing for me as I continue to find what I consider to be a perfect SMW experience and this one is pretty up there.

There are a lot of interesting hacks with an emphasis on difficulty but I think this one brings it exceedingly well primarily because the challenge does not come at the expense of fun which is something it has in no small supply.

Wakana's controls are easy to get used to (aside for accidentally sliding by accident once in a while), the gimmicks are fun, the game has a lot of personality (the NSFW can feel a bit jarring for some) and as someone who feels music is important for a SMW hack, not only is the music very good but best of all, it's used very appropriately and it's wonderfully varied.

Super Wakana Land is a great combination of awesome and fun.

@Lotica thanks! ;)

@kpe it never worked with ZSNES. If you want to play it sticking with the ZSNES UI, try ZMZ.

@Danielsonic87 this is the same version before the last rejection. Admins and hack team mod thought the last rejection was unfair, so they allowed me to resubmit (since it's in an acceptable state rn). This also explains the flash moderation.

I was definitely looking forward to this one for quite awhile, and I'll say, it was definitely worth it. The levels are quite fun and memorable, the new additions, while hard to adjust to at first, make the game feel quite unique, and overall, I had a lot of fun with the game. While it doesn't stray too far from how Super Mario World is structured, it strays enough to be in its own league. The graphics and music are also quite well implemented.

Overall, great hack! Definitely give it a try! Also, I won't spoiled one of the bosses, but let's just say that you'll be hungry for some melons after beating it. ;)
