Tip: You can use Lunar Magic's Overworld Layer 3 Editing system to edit or create your own layer 3 images (castle bricks, fish, rocks) and apply unique effects per level via the Layer 3 Bypass in the main editor.
Golden Yoshi's Island is a ROM Hack of Yoshi's Island built to be played for live audiences in a speedrunning setting. It's a modified version of SMW2+2 by Golden Yoshi (with his full consent).
This hack features several optimizations to make it a faster run than its source material, based on feedback from the Yoshi speedrunning community:
-36 levels hand-picked from the original ROM Hack's 50 and rearranged into 4 worlds.
-Default egg aim setting is now Hasty
-Transformation sequence has been sped up
-World-clear cutscene has been removed
-Message box upon collecting first flower has been removed
-Autoscrolling sections removed
-New tech to skip vehicle sections
-Various other sections of levels have been modified for brevity and consistency
-Entering the top secret code now triggers the credits sequence
-Brand new title screen and credits sequence, courtesy of Mattrizzle
how to patch your hack in the ROM of yoshi island
When I open your hack and place the ROM I get it:
this patch is not intended for this ROM
Sorry for the late response, but are you sure that the version of the ROM you are using is correct? The most likely issue is:
1. You're not patching to a USA region ROM
2. The version of the ROM you're trying to patch to isn't version 1.0.
If anyone can help me, I'd be most grateful...and I will preface this by saying, I feel like a complete idiot for asking this since I have patched a ton of Mario hacks -
I am having trouble patching this so I can play it. Is there anything I am missing? I am using a clean copy of Yoshi's Island but every time I try to patch it, Flips tells me this wasn't made for that ROM.
I've tried everything I can think of, but I fail every time.
If anyone has any suggestions or can enlighten me as to what I am doing wrong, I
d appreciate it. Like I said, I'd like to try this one after seeing it played at the Mario Maker Coliseum charity event.
