Tip: Try playing around with the Horizontal Level Settings in Lunar Magic. You can create some uniquely-designed levels unlike anything seen in the original Super Mario World.

File Name: Celeste - Controllable Platform
Version History: View
Authors: Erik
Tool: PIXI
Type: Standard

Description: This platform will move in a direction in an horizontal or vertical manner automatically, with the player being able to control how it moves in the opposite axis. See the ASM file for more information.
Note that this requires a patch (that will be installed when you insert the sprite) to be able to use the respawning feature.

* Updated for PIXI.
* Somewhat fixed SA-1 conversion (but untested anyways so I'm not putting the tag.

I'm not sure what to say other than this sprite is kind of a mess

The block detection on this is super faulty, and in some instances doesn't even explode when interacting with a wall or ceiling. This can lead to potential softlocks if the block is out of your reach and won't respawn.

I found this weird glitch where if one of these Controllable Platforms explodes while another is on screen...this happens:

It's a bit hard to see, but the second platform (the on one the left of the screen) was facing up at first. However, as soon as the first one explodes, it starts to face to the left, like the one that just exploded did. This also seems to completely overwrite its respawn point.

Another oddity:

Sometimes Mario will have trouble grabbing onto the block, and sometimes he just falls off while grabbing it on the side.

And lastly:

It's very easy to just clip inside the platform. I don't think it actually affects much, but this still probably shouldn't happen.

The horizontal versions works fine.
But the vertical versions have two problems:
1)It's not obvious at all for the player that to use them he have to grab from the sides, most players will assume that they can control from the top and think that the platform isn't working.
2)The camera doesnt scroll together with the player so you have only the small size of the screen to use which is not enough to create a decent challenge, that a big bummer.

you forgot to put the "patch needed" tag.

Major Flare
Aside of some wonky interactions, the sprite works fine enough for approval. Accepted.
