Bidirectional Goal

SMW Patches → Bidirectional Goal

Bug Fix: Yes

Description: If the number of screens in the current sublevel is even, the victory march will go right. If odd, left. Works on both goal tape and ? spheres.

Tester's Note: Although changing the behavior to depending on the number of screens is a little odd, it does work as intended and is clear and consistent. The previous patch's method was indeed flawed, as it did not take into account players flying over the goal.

Make sure there are no conflicts with other patches for free RAM space.
If that doesn't work, please PM me. (I won't notice otherwise.)

Tested with: Asar 1.71, ZMZ 1.08, LM 3.03 and SA-1 1.31.

Well, it works as intended, even with LM3.00++ level dimension features. Approved.

Remoderated patch. Nothing much to say about this too, as the note of the original tester (the mod who approved this the first time, I assume?) says, it's a kinda odd way to make this effect, but it's effective and that is what mattters, I think, after all it's always possible to add/remove ledges after the goal tapes (unless you literally use all the level screens). Also, for LM3.00+ dynamic level dimensions, it only counts horizontal screens, so, the effect is the same with (odd)x1 screens, (odd)x2 screens, (odd)x3 screens, etc...
