Super Mario World Hacks - Secret of Mario Show random
File Name: Secret of Mario
Authors: dtothefourth
Demo: No
Featured: No
Length: 0 exit(s)
Type: Kaizo: Light
Description: A procedurally generated, arcade style hack with non-traditional falling game play.

Obstacles are generated in real time block by block and are randomized to the point where even loading a save state mid level will still result in new obstacles afterwards (except TAS).

Features three modes:

1) The standard experience with an end and a boss

2) Speed run mode with fast forward button, built in timer, and saved PB

3) Infinite mode, no end just see how long you can survive! Also records a PB

Includes a settings room which can disable the music or backgrounds (the constant scrolling backround while falling caused issues for some people).

May have some issues on specific hardware (SNES Classic, notably), sorry! But I've not had any problems on emulator or Everdrive personally.

This hack is a good example of crazy asm that's actually really fun to play in a non-conventional way. I recommend playing this on emulator with back-up savestates in case it crashes, since it crashed for me on the Super NT during the final section and checkpoints don't save to the saveram.

amazing idea, I prefer normal "left to right" hacks, rooms can sometimes feel the same, but because i've never seen something like this before 5 stars ofc

Your programming skill is truly impressive. This is one hack I can truly call "unique", and it defies the definition of kaizo. Usually kaizo means there's only one way to beat an obstacle, but here you have to be on your feet at all times-- memorization won't help. I really want to see more dynamic levels like this in the future. Awesome work.

This is a really cool hack. It's completely unconventional and innovative. It is insanely awesome how much work was put into this hack to have all of the different obstacles spawn in unique orders and configurations, and yet, the whole level before the boss is just a vertical level with one custom coded sprite that generates EVERYTHING. Come on, isn't that even a little amazing?
