I make no apologies. The Underground is difficult and precise at times, but I strove to make a hack that rewards the player for their effort. I believe that something as difficult as The Underground must be designed to reward the player for following the steps. A brilliant symphony's sonic glory rewards the musicians who practiced and rehearsed, a delicious dish rewards the patient chef's experimentation. Be it the satisfaction of executing impressive visual tricks, the achievement of optimizing and making yourself more skilled at controlling Mario, or the joy when you cross the goal tape. Chase after your dreams and never turn back.
This hack features 11 exits filled with secrets to discover, bosses, cape, custom music, top-down designed levels, custom graphics, regrabs, and custom behavior. I believe that the creative method does not create from nothing. This hack is inspired by a slew of incredible games and works of art that came before me. Throughout the hack, astute players will find obstacles and levels in homage to other games, such as Grand Poo World 2, Storks and Apes and Crocodiles, Kaizo Mario World, Super Dram World, and many more.
Newer players are recommended to avoid the secret exits, which prove to be more challenging than the normal exits.
Overall very good Hack.
I kinda didn't like the lore and the layout of the Overworld but I think thats only my concern because I like the classic desing.
But the Levels itself where great and very fun to play!

This is a really nice hack with some cool gimmicks. Overall it was very fun to play.
A couple of things:
In the sky level you can pause while on your way up (from jumping or bouncing off an enemy). This will give you what is essentially a double jump. This makes the end of the first CP pretty trivial as you don't even need to save the first disco shell. Can be used again for the end of the level and the boo boss.
Also, I have no idea if I solved the puzzle correctly or not but I had the exact number of coins so I assume I did?? Basically I got p-speed and switched the blocks to go back to the beginning right before I hit them so I could make it through. Kind of rough if this is the real strat and you had the long reset.
Lastly, I was going to go for 100% but I have absolutely no idea what the level wants me to do in the cape room of the first secret exit. I throw the pswitch up to his the on/off switch. Land on the dolphin....then....????
Great job on this hack, the level design was pretty solid throughout. My favorite level was definitely the castle, really fun platforming. The only level I had trouble with was purgatory, some sections were difficult to figure out and it took me about 45 minutes to beat it. Final boss was fun and challenging. Can't wait to see more hacks from you in the future
Game crashes on console with Everdrive. Started game, Mario starts falling, then right when the text box goes to pop up it goes black.
Weird, that might be a glitch with the vwf dialogues patch as that is the only non-standard thing loaded at that point in the game. I have tested it on hardware, but not on an everdrive. It is not an SA-1 hack, so that is not the issue. Otherwise nothing I am using should not work on everdrive, I can investigate the isue with vwf dialogue patch a little more.
