Song that plays in the B-Side of chapter 5, Mirror Temple. A jazzy funky souly song that idunnowhereitcouldfit.
Included two SPCs: the SMW one is the one that is actually included as a TXT, and the HQ one is just for listening purposes (only difference is echo anyway).
Special thanks to Pinci for helping me with some of the samples!
Also, give credit to Lena Raine and 2 Mello if you use it!
Absolutely top tier port. A damn shame that it doesn't have the 5.0, as it definitely deserves it. It also means less people will hear the song
Sure its not perfect, but to me its more about what emotions the song invokes, and as long as the quality doesn't intrude on that - which by the way in this case I see no issues whatsoever (although my music theory knowledge is super poor); then it has some extra "nostalgia" value.
The point is Celeste was one of the top 3 games released in 2018 and anyone who enjoyed it as much as I did should see the same emotional value this port has that I do. Add that to the actual high quality of the port and you got yourself a 5/5 song that I will absolutely be using for my celeste-inspired dungeon kaizo level.
Amazing work Maxodex!
ah man, this is so good! i wish i had more to say, but i love listening to this. i should really check out celeste one of these days when i get the time. i'm commenting because i want to give this five stars.
also, the synth brass in the beginning is the best-sounding synth brass i've ever heard from the SNES!
Apologies for the unnecessary drama. Had some beef and I went about expressing that in the worst way possible. Going forward I'll try to handle my differences in a more constructive way.
ngl, after seeing that now I'm curious on if Maxodex actually ends up doing a port of this some time tbh, just to see what the composer would think of the fact both of them uses Maxo as part of their names lmao
It doesn't need echo to sound fantastic, but the mix seems a little unbalanced. For example, the choir chords in the background are quieter in the SMW version compared to the HQ version. All you have to do to fix that is adjust the volume. The saxophone also outshines everything else, not just volume wise, but quality wise too. Some of the other samples used are a bit more low fidelity by comparison. It's not very consistent and it rubs me the wrong way a little bit.
This port isn't bad by any stretch. It's just... fine. It's not blowing me away and I'm not afraid to express that just because whenever Maxo submits something it's an event and everyone jerks him off.
welp, finally you did a fully sampled port lmao; it's been a while since I heard something like that from you :V
this shit is funky as hell btw, tho I don't really know the original track that well so I can't judge much; still tho, great job! the synth brass especially is really damn smooth haha
