Description: What began as an earnest attempt to learn Lunar Magic by making a simple, beginner-friendly hack is now here, in its (hopefully) finished state, an intermediate-to-difficult kaizo hack that leans toward just difficult in its cape levels.

Yep, levels. There are three flying levels, four cape levels total. While I think they're fair, they're not especially easy. I finished Panga World and Volpey's Friend just before creating these, and the sins of the fathers are indelibly present here. I felt this all necessary to mention since the average kaizo hack has something like .75 cape levels in it.

The rest of the hack involves precise jumps, a splash of item abuse, a little chocolate, and a few trolls for good measure. The usual kaizo fare. The game overall should be a relatively simple obstacle to more experienced players.

This hack is dedicated to my very good friend, Solstng, who helped me immensely during the early stages of my transition. This is the least I could do in return.

And I sincerely hope, if you give it a go, that you enjoy your time.

Very fun hack, starts off as good intermediate hack that turns to cape that I thoroughly enjoyed learning. Would recommend for a good time and a way to help you to improve with cape if you are not used to it.

I think the given description fits this hack perfectly without over-selling it. Soup or Solstng is a beginner-friendly hack with a good smattering of ideas that took about 2-3 hours to complete.

I was excited to play this one, mainly due to hearing that cape levels were involved. Being mostly a vanilla player and having recently finished Volpey's Friend, I was looking for more cape challenges to scratch that cape itch (which I should really see a doctor about). There are some instances that clearly show inspiration from Volpey's Friend (the boo fight for example), that were fun to play for cape enthusiasts like myself.

Unfortunately the levels which involve cape (only 3 or so) did not feel all that fleshed out. There were really cool cape ideas used in these levels that I was excited to see more of, but most of the cape usage felt watered down with either filler or due to relying on the non-vanilla cape mechanics-- which made the cape levels much easier than the rest of the hack. There was one instance where the game makes fun of itself in a tongue-in-cheek way about a level intro that involved two cape shell tricks off of a springboard right from the get-go, and I actually thought it was one of the most fun and interesting setups in the entire hack-- and wished to have seen those ideas of cape and shells coming together really expanded on.

The normal levels generally had a good balance of difficulty and fun, with an increase in difficulty as the hack progressed. There were a few instances of difficulty spikes either by avoiding needless kaizo blocks, or the key riding at the end that only led to a very simple boss. Altogether, it had good difficulty management, treated the player fairly, and engaged the player with different styles, which is one of the most important things to keep the player's interest. The idea of putting in a single motor skills level at the very end of the hack is something I disagree with, though. Having the player drastically change their play style after having invested time into the first 95% of the hack feels off and unwelcome.

The music was great, and somehow really fit the levels, all while being light-hearted and keeping the player calm and relaxed. Hearing 50 Cent's P.I.M.P. makes completing a level feel 100 times cooler, and makes you want to complete more.

Aesthetically, I feel a lot more could've been done to appeal to the player and be visually pleasing. Some levels, such as 'BeeKaay Taught Me', look and feel more like a rough-draft than a completed level. Good visuals are a great way to immerse the player in the world that's been created, and this hack falls short in that manner.

All in all, I would comfortably recommend this hack to anyone, and am looking forward to more hacks from the author. This is fun hack with a sense of humor, a good foundation, and a decent understanding of what a player looks for in a hack.

A solid 4/5 -- Great work, Shovda.

This is only my first night playing this, so I only was able to get passed the Secret Cat and the Oasis. But I think I noticed something here.. the song by 50 Cent at the end, not only did you modify the Time of the level to 50, but you had to have known the drum sound rounding the Time down after the goal tape was cleverly placed to complement the tune. Didn't you?

5 Stars for you sir.

Thank you. 💙 Also, nbd, but it's ma'am.💙

Hey all. So apparently some of the custom sprites in various levels crash the game on the snes classic. First, I'm very very sorry about that. But, two, I'll make a sne classic version once I'm able to. For those who don't know, I'm currently recovering from bottom surgery, so I'm wildly incapacitated. I'll get to it when I can though. 💙

Just made it to the second world, I'm quite enjoying this hack. Some unique aesthetics, very fun and relatively short levels so far. Excellent first effort, I'm looking forward to the future of shovda romhacks

pretty fun, aesthetics were lacking a bit in some levels but the games great music and fair level design made up for that. my only other complaint is that it was too short

Be careful about this ;)
