Description: | Can someone who's never made a hack before finish one in less than 48 hours? I asked myself that question last Friday before Global Game Jam 2020 started and by Sunday evening I had Super Weekend World. Super Weekend World includes: - 4 whole kaizo levels (with names!) - Custom-ish boss fight - Hand-crafted overworld (made in 20 minutes after watching half of a youtube tutorial at 1.5x speed) - Title screen with the name of the game on it - No game-breaking bugs! (probably) Super Weekend World does not include: - Custom graphics - Custom music - Custom asm - More than 48 hours of work Thanks to Romhack Races for their baserom which saved me at least 30 minutes, which is three times as much time as I spent on making the boss fight. |

Thanks. I have a real hack in the works
The trick to the first platform is to run under the spikes during its initial depression into the lava caused by Mario landing on it. That gives you enough time to make the second platform not fall off the screen consistently.
It's not an obvious strat though and if I had more time time play test I probably would have adjusted that section to be more lenient. But you can see what I do in the video I linked below.
If you are stuck you can check out this video I made beating the hack, which should help: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/546409287
Awesome work man!!
Thanks! I also use retroarch when I'm testing, but I like to play it on my Super Nt as well because there's less input lag. It's very cool to think of someone playing something I made on an original snes, which was the first console I ever played on.
im having the same problem with another jumping chuck right after the checkpoint. *update* Sorry about these.. you have to stand on the edge of the flying platform before the chuck will even jump at all. :-\ sorry if this is basic knowledge but im pretty new to smw kaizo stuff. i usually do mario maker 1 & 2. :-D
YAY i beat my first smw romhack level!
Nice job. I put the coin in the air before the third chuck to indicate where to jump to trigger him. And for the one after the midway you can either stand on the edge of the platform as you did or do another jump toward him like the first one.

P.s How did you disable the Screen scrolling?
Thanks! If you mean why it never scrolls up or down that's in the "Change Properties in Header" dialog in Lunar Magic, which looks like Mario's head. Set "Layer 1 (FG) Vertical Scrolling" to "No Vertical Scroll".

My first level (back in June) I spent a straight month working every day on it. It sucked and will never see the light of day. But I kept making stuff and tried to learn from it. I've still got a long way to go but my point is that anyone can make stuff, and if you want to make stuff faster you just have to make more stuff. Also deadlines help, which is why I do game jams.
Isso foi intencional. Muito obrigado (and thanks google translate)
Thanks! I usually make things that are too hard so I purposely dialed it back for this, so I'm glad it was still satisfying.
