Description: Square is a short, easy-to-intermediate difficulty kaizo hack I made for beginners looking for something to play during their progression to more difficult kaizo hacks. While focusing on tight flowing platforming, I tried to prioritize fun over challenge wherever possible. I also sprinkled in a few trolls because trolls are always funny.

This game features custom music, custom palettes, some custom asm, one secret, and deep lore that will have you begging for a sequel.

Whether you're a new or experienced kaizo player, I hope you enjoy!

Really fun platforming! The 2nd half of the ghost house level was a really cool use of that solid parallax layer 2 gimmick.

Mostly did not like the gameplay of this one, up until the castle, it just didn't stick with me I guess. It's definitely more into intermediate as well.
- First levels question mark block section was rough
- You don't even need the shell for the second level, it's easily skippable
- Third level was more annoying than it needed to be with the porcupuffer
- Fourth level was fine for the most part but then there is the boss which was terrible
- The wind level was abominable, I've got nothing good to say about it
- The double jump level was fine, but the gray winged platforms would sometimes not be aligned well
- Wall jump level's first half was honestly awkward, second half was fine but still kind of annoying
- The last level is the only level that was good, but the jump to the disco shell was annoying, and so are the spike hitboxes, but overall it was a great level

good job, fun hack (except for the wind level). but I really wouldn't call this easy, definitely falls under intermediate imo. That last castle was sick though.

I just came back to this for a second playthrough. It's really great, I had a lot of fun.

I don't know if you care by now, but if you ever do an update, the overworld path between "Crunch Time" and "Cool Beach Level" is open without beating "Crunch Time." The graphics have the right animation, but the pathing isn't blocked off, so you can just skip "Crunch Time."

Anyway, super fun, awesome job! #smrpg{y}

Solid hack. Some very creative jumps and fun platforming. I would put this solidly in "intermediate" category, not really easy or beginner, about Invictus or Akogare level.

The final castle is excellent; give yourself a hand. One level I didn't like was the wind level. I don't think you did a bad job on it necessarily; I just find the gimmick un-fun. I also would vastly prefer if you could see the wind.

The other one I hated was the double jump level, because it's jank as far as I can tell. Very small differences in movement lead to totally different spawns of the gray winged platforms, often guaranteeing death. Even after many attempts, I still couldn't get it consistent.

But aside from these complaints, like I said, this was a good effort with some awesome sections. I look forward to playing your next hack.

Literally every hack I play is getting 5 stars.
