Description: | This is a hack inspired by the Vinesauce lore. If you don't know Vinesauce, you may still find this enjoyable! The premise is the following: You play as Sponge, the sad depressed and forgotten Mario brother, who is tasked to find some meat for Mario and Luigi. Things don't go as planned, however. |

Im felling Romantical
awesome rom-hack. 10 out of 10
infact it just freezes.
PLS HELP BRUH!!
I can't patch the rom! Anyone got any tips?
I love how the game looks through streamers and thought I'd try it out for myself, but I can't find anyway to load it. I'm using a chromebook for emulation running ChromeOS and I tried ot load it on an app called "Snes 9x EX+" and it works fine with other Roms so idk what I'm doing wrong, please help me out.
a bps is a file thats supposed to be patched into the rom for vanilla super mario world from what i remember
I looove how you gave it a story and this weird atmosphere.
But also it is the first Mario game I have seen to feature a spaghetti level - shouldn't that have popped up way earlier?
The gameplay additions and changes are amazing.
I have reviewed it in detail: https://snes-testberichte.de/marios-mystery-meat/
Please make more games, you have some talent.
thanks if it helped
Amazed by everything; the visuals, the platforming, etc.
Good job! This inspires me a lot.
are you patching the .bps file with flips.exe?
Another strange thing is when Yoshi eats a person, a strange snake appeared. Also the two bad endings were strange, too. A lot of unusual levels I've played, with two I can't escape in these levels. Why is the main character orange and Sponge and not red and Mario?
It won't make sense unless you're familiar with the Vinesauce community.

YEA!!! THIS HACK IS AWESOME!!!! EVEN MY LITTLE BROTHER ENJOYED THE HACK
HE IS 5 YO XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
haha, I think you can find better hacks, ones that have way more skill and attention put into them. And look forward to even greater ones in the future! There are so many incredible people here working on their projects with great skill and passion. I believe those upcoming romhacks will be the most complex, passion-fueled hacks we'll ever see
The bps file is meant as a patch that you apply to a ROM of Super Mario World. To apply the patch, use Floating IPS, which can be found at this link here: https://www.smwcentral.net/?a=details&id=11474&p=section.
A fix made it so that this requirement no longer exists
do you guys mean that the rom won't start at all? that has to be a problem with the SMW rom you use as the input file. if it's a different issue, I'm very confused
despacito song.
get it here
you need a spc player to run the spc file included. if you'd rather have a mp3 file, feel free to PM me
despacito song. Never thought I'd be SAYING that, but... it's really catchy sped up... SOMEHOW.
Snes9x 1.56. that's what you need.
I cursed a couple times
If there's one complaint I have is
The rewind time part though is tough but I like that kind of difficulty, it's pretty doable without rewind, but it can have some close cuts if you're not fast enough.... maybe if you could tweak it to be a little harder......... that'd be awesome!
Very good romhack. Super-impressive stuff I had no idea was even possible in SMW. But I do wish I'd known it wasn't very real-hardware friendly before starting out x)
[Also.. I'm new here, but is this really Standard-Hard? I'm not going anywhere near any more of them if that's the case xD]
Will be posting recording(s) of my playthrough on YouTube at some point in case somebody wants to watch a "n00b" play through this x)
Oh and is there an easier verison of this available somewhere? I'd love to try that out and maybe play it with my let's play group (Twin-Stick Gamers)
So the main reason I set the difficulty to "Standard: Hard" was because of what you've been through. The "rewind" part was intended to be hard (and incitate emulator users to use rewind), but the part after that wasn't intended to be as confusing as it ended up being... What I'm saying is that other hacks labelled with the same difficulty certainly aren't all like this
An easier version is available here (I just uploaded it on my filebin as well). It's essentially the same hack, just with toned down sprites in some places especially at the end and some extra mushrooms. You can also toggle invincibility with the R trigger
Also, thanks guys! I'm happy you enjoyed it
Haha I needed that extra luck. The parts after where I took a break were *crazy-hard* imo. Each took me hours. I was going crazy at the "Rewind" part. And I had to give in and watch the Vinesauce stream recording to figure out the upside-down part. And I could never figure out a perfect strategy for phase 2 of the final boss. So random xD

I'm having some trouble with the multiple choice text boxes though (running on MiSTer). I tested on ZNES and Super Nt w/SD2SNES Pro and there were no issues on either of those.
But does the game save at any point? I've left my MiSTer on almost all day so not to lose my progress xD
Thanks! ahhh sorry no the game never saves, honestly if I knew how to mess with SRAM mid-level I would have done it... you're rather close to the end, though the game will get harder. so good luck!
