This is a hack inspired by the Vinesauce lore. If you don't know Vinesauce, you may still find this enjoyable! The premise is the following:
You play as Sponge, the sad depressed and forgotten Mario brother, who is tasked to find some meat for Mario and Luigi. Things don't go as planned, however.
As a long-time viewer of Vinesauce, I absolutely adore this hack. Not only did it make me laugh out loud during several moments, but it's legitimately fun to play and provides just enough challenge without being unfair. I laughed the hardest during the part that
recreated an EarthBound battle
, and I was most blown away during the section that
was a full-on shoot-em-up
. I don't know too much about what SMW hacks are capable of, so this hack might not be much of a big deal in this community, but this is easily my favorite Super Mario World ROM hack. I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys Vinny's streams as much as I do.
i have no idea why the rom hack is not working. i am using the latest version of the snes9x emulator and whenever i drag the folder in, it doesn't start. any info on why it isn't starting?
I was shocked playing the first time. The two parts of the level was not maintained: one was the Earthbound modified screen with unchanged Hp/Pp, and the other one after Princess Bleach and Mario with Yoshi was also not maintained (not to be confused with power and health bar) and some opposites ("I'm not happy"). Also, I can't spin jump on Donkey Kong or a rabbit, and there were weird things lime snake-like meat or fish on the upside down level.
Another strange thing is when Yoshi eats a person, a strange snake appeared. Also the two bad endings were strange, too. A lot of unusual levels I've played, with two I can't escape in these levels. Why is the main character orange and Sponge and not red and Mario?
It won't make sense unless you're familiar with the Vinesauce community.

10/10 would meat again. All jokes aside, the hack isn't even relatable to SMW at the point. It's full of memes and different funny things. This should be a game to pay for on steam if it wasn't a SMW rom hack.
Im gonna be honest, this is probrobly the best SMW ROM hack I've ever played.
haha, I think you can find better hacks, ones that have way more skill and attention put into them. And look forward to even greater ones in the future! There are so many incredible people here working on their projects with great skill and passion. I believe those upcoming romhacks will be the most complex, passion-fueled hacks we'll ever see
i love this hack but keeps breaking for my snes9x 2002 when i get to the boss of the flying part of the hack! 2002 is the best emulator to run it but it can't take this hacks awesome power, im honestly not even mad
i really enjoyed vinesauce live stream when he played it the jokes were awesome and i loved the gameplay i didn't beleve it an a super mario world rom hack 10\10
This was a very enjoyable hack. It was humorous and technically impressive. I didn't get some of the jokes, as I don't know Vinesauce all too well, but I still found lots of laughs within the game. My only complaint is that the end of the game gets a little bit too difficult to the point of frustration. As someone who avoids savestates and rewind, I had a tough time on the final boss. The attacks just happened a little too fast (in the second phase) and lead to a number of deaths where I just couldn't do anything. Regardless, this was enjoyable for the most part and was technically stunning. Great work, Eminus.
To those that are confused about the bps file format:
The bps file is meant as a patch that you apply to a ROM of Super Mario World. To apply the patch, use Floating IPS, which can be found at this link here: https://www.smwcentral.net/?a=details&id=11474&p=section.
What an awesome ROM hack. Took me about 2 hours to complete. This didn't work on my SD2SNES. I got a green garbage screen on boot and then a black screen. It worked on the MiSTer SNES Core, but the menu selection was messed up.
A fix made it so that this requirement no longer exists
do you guys mean that the rom won't start at all? that has to be a problem with the SMW rom you use as the input file. if it's a different issue, I'm very confused

you need a spc player to run the spc file included. if you'd rather have a mp3 file, feel free to PM me
It wont seem to start up, I'm using sens9x 1.60 but it still wont work. Has anyone else had this problem, if so would you mind telling me the solution.

Amazing hack! I loved it! It's really crazy and unique, man if you're not sure about downloading this hack... YOU SHOULD!! Just do it! It's absolutely amazing, requires a certain amount of skill in some parts like the
rewind part
if you want to enjoy this And you don't have enough skill use save states or the easy version of this hack that is a few comments below! Absolutely recommended! ;)
The best hack I got to experience this year. It was most certainly a trip.
If there's one complaint I have is
the final boss being so random. I think the fight could've been much better if it incorporated a multiple hit points patch. Or, at the very least, make his head change color based on the attack he's about to do. Adding multiple checkpoints, like JUMP's secret final boss, would also help a lot.
This is pretty cool tbh, i liked that it's hilarious and then the part where it says "THE FRESH PRINCE HAS LOGGED IN!" was fucking hilarious!
The rewind time part though is tough but I like that kind of difficulty, it's pretty doable without rewind, but it can have some close cuts if you're not fast enough.... maybe if you could tweak it to be a little harder......... that'd be awesome!
Haha I needed that extra luck. The parts after where I took a break were *crazy-hard* imo. Each took me hours. I was going crazy at the "Rewind" part. And I had to give in and watch the Vinesauce stream recording to figure out the upside-down part. And I could never figure out a perfect strategy for phase 2 of the final boss. So random xD
Very good romhack. Super-impressive stuff I had no idea was even possible in SMW. But I do wish I'd known it wasn't very real-hardware friendly before starting out x)
[Also.. I'm new here, but is this really Standard-Hard? I'm not going anywhere near any more of them if that's the case xD]
Will be posting recording(s) of my playthrough on YouTube at some point in case somebody wants to watch a "n00b" play through this x)
Oh and is there an easier verison of this available somewhere? I'd love to try that out and maybe play it with my let's play group (Twin-Stick Gamers)
So the main reason I set the difficulty to "Standard: Hard" was because of what you've been through. The "rewind" part was intended to be hard (and incitate emulator users to use rewind), but the part after that wasn't intended to be as confusing as it ended up being... What I'm saying is that other hacks labelled with the same difficulty certainly aren't all like this
An easier version is available here (I just uploaded it on my filebin as well). It's essentially the same hack, just with toned down sprites in some places especially at the end and some extra mushrooms. You can also toggle invincibility with the R trigger
Thanks! ahhh sorry no the game never saves, honestly if I knew how to mess with SRAM mid-level I would have done it... you're rather close to the end, though the game will get harder. so good luck!

I just got tipped about this romhack from a friend to day. I am absolutely blown away thus far (about 1 hour in, desert with some chef in the background).
I'm having some trouble with the multiple choice text boxes though (running on MiSTer). I tested on ZNES and Super Nt w/SD2SNES Pro and there were no issues on either of those.
But does the game save at any point? I've left my MiSTer on almost all day so not to lose my progress xD

Probably one of the most technically impressive hacks I've ever seen... all from a major shitpost. If you're a Vinesauce fan, you'll definitely be a home with a lot of the jokes here. Even if you don't get the jokes, the gameplay and weird humor is still appealing in its own right. I can't really say a whole lot that would tell you how wonderful this thing is. I'll just say it was a joy to play and watch.
