One of my most tasking rips I've ever made. I did my best to convey utility to the foreground. It's from stage 7, from Ganbare Goemon 3. A dungeon that's basically a hot spring / bath house, hidden in the snowy mountains, near the Snow Child Village. I split both the foreground and background in different sample levels, because of how many palettes both of them uses. This rip was part of my C3 Graphic Ripping Showcase .
Foreground uses palette 4,5 and 7. Background uses palette 2,3 and 6 (latter half). Despite the variety of colors, the foreground and background, both combined, only use two EXGFX files.
This set is very vibrant and beautiful. The lighting on the stone and marble is realistic, and the stained glass mosaic's anti-aliasing is so smooth it almost doesn't look like SNES. The reflection of the brick wall is nicely distinguished with the shadow taking on a more purplish blue before fading to clear, clean water. The drain is a subtle but important detail in the wall for the complete bath house. Despite its colorful appearance, enough room is left in the palette space for important details such as coins, pipes, and water. I love this set!
