The piano portion is missing a couple of chords, but it doesn't destroy the piece. Adding them in can only help though - did you analyze the piece in a MIDI editor if it's not exporting with PetiteMM? I do think the bass instrument is great but would benefit from longer sustain and less decay, notably at the section beginning at :55 and toward the end to give it the fullness of the original piece. Around 1:02, I think you want to slightly fade the volume and go into a reverse cymbal - it really does enhance the dramatic feeling of the transition to that next part. I'm of the opinion that the song does not need echo with the right melody synth, but echo would only really applicable to the melody synth - it would actually drag down the rest of the song to use it on any other part, and echo should take a backseat to samples if other samples need to be added but you don't have the space for both. It's a decent port, not one I'd call effortless - actually really good for a first port, but definitely consider addressing volume issues and fitting in that reverse cymbal.
thanks for the advice! echo is something i havent really researched yet, but it sounds like it can make a port sound more... full, maybe? anyway, thx for listening!
