One of my favourite romhacks of 2020 - Comfort Zone has a fun, flowy style - with unique setups and a great soundtrack that ramps up as you get deeper into the game. A true 5 star game and one I will replay many times.
Replayed this (now v1.2) since it was first released, not remembering any of the specifics of the levels. After finishing (and loving) Titan Mario, I wanted to revisit orka's first hack.
I would have called this a beginner+ or entry-intermediate hack, but many sections have one or two setups that feel out of place in terms of difficulty - not relying on tight movement to raise the challenge like Titan Mario does - but instead odd timing, gimmicks like the throw-block jump, and blind spots.
Of course this hack is very good, and any skill level could take it on - but I imagine I'd be frustrated with the unusual difficulty peaks without having a solid kaizo problem-solving foundation. Reminds me a bit of many of the blind kaizo races in that way.
Really great debut hack by Orka. The difficulty in terms of extreme jump lengths and tightness can be very punishing at times, but it's still clearly carefully designed. Also, a standout kaizo hack in terms of aesthetic design — especially with the use of multiple layers.
