File Name: Dancer to a Discordant System
Version History: View
Authors: slopcore
Demo: No
Featured: No
Length: 22 exit(s)
Type: Kaizo: Light
Description: This is my first hack. My main priority was to keep things pretty simple while I was learning Lunar Magic, so it's mostly vanilla with some exceptions here and there. Intermediate difficulty.

-Autosaves every OW movement (to save a midway exit the level, walk a tile on the OW, then it is saved)
-Fast Retry (not instant, uses retry/exit prompt)
-No cape
-One bonus shell-based level with no exits
-22 exits 100%
-14 exits any%
-No bosses

I hope you enjoy, glhf

1.1 updates:
-Adjusted some music volume
-Smoothed out a few obstacles for flow/readability
-Fixed spelling errors
-Fixed overworld jank

1.2 (final) updates:
-"Blood Meridian" secret exit now actually does something, and makes more sense
-"Mario's house" now actually accessible
-No secret green switch required for Rye Airfield, all rooms immediately accessible upon completion of the hack
-Few big changes to "Dragonarch Keep" (aesthetics, readability)
-Added a few more message boxes where things should've been explained better
-Uppipe in "Chateau Zedelghelm" more forgiving
-Divisiboos in "Overlook Fortress" updated to newest version, and have slightly less janky hitboxes
-Fixed some cheese in "Overlook Fortress" and "Coffin Palace"
-Made "Seine River" water level less bad overall
-Sound effects in "Putney Woods" motor skills removed/fixed
-Fixed line-guide platforms in "Discordant System"
-One obstacle in "The Bastille" revised for flow/readability
-"Zheleznodorozhny" aesthetics changed, but still can't fix the bug that makes the level title so hard to pronounce
-Overworld still kinda jank but now a little less
-Removed 4 bucket in "Cloud Palace"
-Other very small miscellaneous improvements

This hack delivers fun vanilla platforming and high-quality shell action. The occasional "chocolate exceptions" alluded to in the description are also very well done. I'd recommend this to any intermediate player and especially to enthusiasts of the two-bounce shell. I've heard rumors of Dancer 2? Huge if true.

Just beat v1.2 and I have to say it's really great. Lots of fluid platforming and the chocolate is sprinkled nicely. I highly recommend this hack.

Great hack. Loved the level design and atmosphere. Felt like the right length and never over-used any design aspects. Every level felt independent and flowing. Great job. #smw{:TUP:}

A perfect cap to 2020's year of fantastic intermediate kaizo hacks. Not to be overlooked, this hack follows the evolving progression of SMW game building. Creative, fun, and challenging yet intuitive.

Did you enjoy Peachy Moat World, Bunbun World 2, Comfort Zone? If so, this is a must play.

This hack was an absolute blast! Consistent level design, great flow, and hot a e s t h e t i c s. Pretty challenging for a noob like me, but never frustrating. 5/5 !!

Fantastic debut release from a very clever creator. The levels flowed superbly and the set ups were very intuitive giving the player a great feeling of accomplishment when chaining together many sections in a row. The aesthetics and music were on point and the difficulty hit that very sweet spot which would allow players of all ability to have a great time playing this. There was one troll in particular that actually made me cry with laughter at the pure brilliance of it. This is an easy 5/5 hack for me and I can’t recommend it enough. Great work, Slop.
