After what feels like forever, my latest project Super Mario Universe has finally been released!
Super Mario Universe is a space-themed Super Mario World ROM hack that lets you chose the order in which you complete levels. There are 3 different planets that you need to explore in order to reach Bowser's Space Base and save Peach. Your job is to hit the Switch Palace at the end of each planet to be able to get in.
The hack features:
- 20 main stages and 3 bonus stages
- 14 cutscenes with unique characters
- Wall jump and Midair twirl for better feeling controls
- Not so typical Mario locations to explore!
This has been a solo project of mine for the past 2 years now, and I'm so happy to share it with everyone!

Is the music/soundtrack uploaded anywhere? The trailer said it would go live in an hour on the day the trailer was originally uploaded, but I don't see it anywhere.
Thanks for making the Rom Hack. I really enjoyed this. My livestream community enjoyed it. I can't wait for more. Feel free to check out the let's play series for this
Super fun hack. I didn't get to finish because of a wall jump glitch in the level "Molten Powerworks". When you hit the switch and went left to wall jump up to the door, as you're jumping, the frames slow down and my buttons wouldn't work in a timely manner. I'm using an emulator so idk if it's bc of that. Still, super fun!
Cool variety of mechanics. Used them well in the platforming design.
My biggest criticism is the difficulty ramp between World #1 and World #3. You can do the worlds in any order so #3 being significantly harder was odd. I went 3 --> 2 --> 1 and the game got easier. It's a small thing though. I'm still rating 5/5.
+1 to the Donkey Kong barrels being difficult to see. It's not impossible but they could use a sprite change.
This game has so many cool gimmicks that I feel like I'm playing a new Mario game every level. Very good level design and music. I hope to see more from you in the future!
Super fun, a few glitches though. Music would sometimes cut out entirely when I would die, and giga beetle broke the wall and walked out of the stage and sadly softlocked me. Still had a fun time thank you!
There were a few issues of sprite limited barrels/platforms, and a couple of dragon coins that required somewhat blind drops, but overall a very enjoyable experience!
The exposition was skippable, which I can respect. I still sat through it, and it wasn't that bad. Goofy stuff, not super cringey or anything.
Rockin' choice of music, nice ASM use. Just... A short, pleasant romp.
I gave up on dragon coins after completing a switch palace (And being unable to re-enter), about halfway through. 100% exits playthrough took me about 2 hours.

Some things you may want to fix if you ever update it:
- The black bands on the Donkey Kong Country barrels make it difficult to see which end Mario will be shot out of, especially against a dark background. They're usually white or light gray.
- This sprite platform was not spawned in the first time I got to where it should be, probably due to all the flying coin and mushroom sprites. I had to go back and forth a few times to get it to spawn.
- The Buzzy Beetle boss can stun lock you and kill you with falling rocks if stay on the edge of the arena for too long and let it bounce against the wall.
- The top tile of lava, and presumably the bottom tile of a lava ceiling, kills you. This was surprising because the top tile of lava is safe in Super Mario World.
Thanks for the advice! Whenever I'll be sure to fix these soon.
