Tip: If you place a moon, midpoint, or dragon coin through Map16, it will always respawn whenever you reenter that sublevel. It will not respawn if you add it through the Add Objects/Extended Objects window.
Salve a tutti!
This is a little hack I did in my spare time.
Super Wisdom Quest: Follow Mario on his the search for knowledge!
21 required exits, plus 4 optional.
The game is completely vanilla, with the exception of:
-Counterbreak: at each level you will always start from scratch;
-Lots of palette recoloring.
The optional exits are silly little levels or mini-puzzles that exploit glitches or weird SMW mechanics.
(SMW doesn't like to mark 3 level as completed exits, so at the end of the game the number of completed levels in the menu should show 22)
Note: Although the difficulty is standard: hard, the final room of the ending castle is kaizo: light.
Wisdom is an arduos goal to reach, and removing the veil of Māyā is a difficult test to overcome, especially with those pesky koopas around
Genuinely delightful. Deserving of a new difficulty category I'd call "Standard/Kaizo Hybrid." A breath of fresh air in an otherwise bleak world of regurgitated monotony that is SMW hacks today. Thank you sir, or madam, for making this splendid experience. I love you.
Ugh.. very special hack but unfortunately not in a good way.
To begin with, the difficulty itself is bizarre and not really progressive (hello Ba-ba-banzai )
Sometimes you see a little bit Kaizo without being too hard or very boring sections.
Some of them are really unfair : random Kaizo blocks, annoying traps like "haha u die try again", randomness that makes some sections extremely frustrating, annoying item babysitting sections and more..
Overall, levels felt really rushed for the most part. They are rather weird or just not fun at all, One Thight Cavern is a big example, the normal exit can be done in less than 15s but the secret exit is SO annoying and repetitive compared to the normal one (and can easily take a lot of life to be done)
Also, I didn't talk about the aesthetics part, because most of the time it's not really good as well, some palettes are questionable and some levels are not looking really pretty...
Some music choices are questionable as well, they sometimes just don't fit at all or felt bad after playing in a level for like 3 minutes because they already looped 7 or 8 times.
I can see people liking this kind of very awkward hack with strange stuff like that, but if you are looking for a "normal" hard hack well it's definitely not for you.
I also think this should be Very Hard imo.
