Did a special arrangement of Ken Masters'Theme from Street Fighter II': World Warrior for my 1K subscriber milestone. I'm a massive Ken fan (maining him in every game that he's in), so I thought I'd do his theme for this special. I've been wanting to arrange this song ever since I first got into the SMW porting scene and tried so many times, but each attempt was a fail... until now. It's one of my favorite VGMs of all-time, and I'm just incredibly happy to have finally done it.
The intense energy this song is packing is perfect for Ken's fire-y spirit. I really wanted to try basing this off the CPS1 original since not only does the song fit perfectly on the F minor, but the use of mostly just synths helps give this version an identity of its own and would work best with my style, especially when compared to the SNES "Turbo" version, which heavily utilized a riff guitar and other organic instruments. (though it is still my favorite version of Ken's theme to this date). I especially prefer this over his Super Street Fighter II versions, since they mostly just sounded like "traditional CAPCOM" fair instead of a theme that fits Ken's character (plus, it just sounds weaker on the D minor / C# minor too, if you ask me).
