Tip: Remaking levels from other Mario games is strongly discouraged, especially popular ones (World 1-1 from SMB or SMB3, for example), as their over-presence in Mario games, official or not, often makes them uninteresting to play.

Terrible. Plays like a hack from 2011. I beat it RTA until Bowser, who is trash and beyond ludicrous, taking an absurd 13 hits zooming across the screen and stun locking you constantly. Is there an RTA clear video? If so, how long did it take? Is there some trick I'm missing? Kind of skeptical that the creator beat their own hack RTA, because if someone is skilled enough to beat this, they probably would make something better.

Even before Bowser, from the very beginning, there's just so much wrong with this hack. Off the top of my head:

(1) The sprites are hideous.

(2) Life farm makes no sense. If you want finite lives to be a limitation, don't include it. If you don't want finite lives to be a limitation, then just give infinite lives. It's not 2011!

(3) There's no difficulty curve. The third level is as hard as the 23rd level. If anything, I would say the levels get a little easier as you progress, until the very last level where the difficulty spikes.

(4) Minimal variety. Every level has the same background, and there are like six songs in 30 levels. Every secret exit is an exact copy of the same trivially easy room.

(5) Every secret exit is after the midway, forcing the player to beat the entire first section twice to get both exits.

(6) The design sensibility is consistently cramped space + sprite spam. There's hardly any creative platforming.

(7) The hack repeatedly gives the player a powerup only to punish them for having a powerup. Many sections are much harder or impossible if you kept your powerup. On the flip side, some sections are utterly trivial if you bring a fire flower.

(8) Floor 18 is literally broken. If you die after the midway and restart, the camera doesn't show you the bottom quarter of the screen, and there are platforms that you need to jump on down there. I had to use LunarMagic to see where they were.

(9) Many enemies like thwimps, hammer bros, chasing thwomps, and gold Bowser statues get stuck in walls. It looks bad and makes some parts trivial. Also, enemies frequently throw themselves into pits if you just wait on the platform before, again trivializing the challenge.

(10) There's no icon on the over world for one of the two-exit secret levels.

The hack seems like it was not properly tested. Surprised it got approved tbh. How was the difficulty rating determined? Level design is not kaizo at all except like two regrabs and maybe one required shell jump, but then Bowser is impossible. I have no idea who the audience for this hack is. Certainly I'm not in it.

Losing your checkpoint because you game over'd in 5 lives (which is super easy to do because of this hack's difficulty) is NOT fun and is currently why I'm not playing this anymore. It makes me think that this was designed with savestates in mind (to save midways). Please change this. Hack is a 5/5 without this issue, but I can't give it any higher than a 3 with this major oversight.
I added a life farm.

Thanks. I've adjusted my rating.

I argue the opposite, this hack isn't fun and that has nothing to do with its lives and save system being that of SMW. Several floors felt unnecessarily cramped with enemies especially with levels that contain Ball n'Chains and the Piranha Plant family, or low ceilings that expect you to be extremely precise on where you jump and require obscure knowledge of holding down the jump button to slow one's fall when hopping across enemies. Some levels... even both.

Theres ways to make a hack challengingly hard and fun at the same time even for Very Hard, this ain't it.
