Description: Day In The Life is a kaizo-style Super Mario World hack that doubles as a 2-year-long on-and-off passion project of mine. It is largely vanilla, but there are some custom things and some non-gameplay features that utilize significant custom code.


10 exits, a Wolf Den (Yoshi House equivalent), and a separate Credits “level”
Linear progression, no branching overworld paths
Custom music, chosen from SMWCentral’s database
Retry prompt without an “Exit” selection (Start+Select is available on all levels)
Normal/Hard mode switch in lieu of 1/2 player select. Hard mode removes all progression checkpoints from the hack. See the readme in the release file for more details

Pretty good hack. I thought some spots were a little tight, for example, a pretty insane tight jump in the second half of Arrowhead. I think it happened a few times like that, where there would be one very tight spot and you'd end up having to repeat an otherwise easy section just to try that part again.

I didn't care much for the music choices. Not that they were bad songs, I love the Chrono Trigger soundtrack, but they didn't really fit the levels.

You definitely had some banger levels, though. The second half of Grindhouse was awesome. I dug the mole level, and the final part of the final castle is really really cool. Thanks for making these.

This game is perfect for all players to try their hand at, and does a fantastic job bringing old school kaizo up to date with fresh setups. I'm personally very glad Dark has got around to finishing this off, and you can feel the love put into this one. I'm sad I couldn't break a shell setup :(

If you’re a fan of old school kaizo that has been lovingly caressed to fit in right at home in 2021, then this is the hack for you. The obstacles are fun, unique, and flow like a fine wine. Or a Guiness (I’ve actually had one with the creator, no big deal). The music choices are top tier and the aesthetics are wonderful. This really is a fantastic hack for all players to jump in to.

Superb! Got right on the early access version as I've been looking forward to this and it did not disappoint. Ran it back right after beating it (I very rarely do that). Old school/vanilla feel, but without being ball bustingly difficult or unfair. Unique and endearing with some nice call backs to kaizos of the past. I'd say the difficulty averages around the harder stuff in Akogare 2? An extremely solid offering in the mid-intermediate realm of kaizo. Play this.

Thank you to the over 100 people who downloaded the Early Access version! I appreciate each and every one of you who gave this a shot. There were some "1.1" style changes, which are implemented here. I hope this is the last time I ever have to touch this mental health sink, and I wish you all a very happy Gregorian New Year!
