Description:

TEAM AFORETIMES presents a spiritual successor to Krack The Hack, based on a formula found within Daizo Dee Von and Mellonpizza's "100 Rooms of Enemies", Stego's "Mario's Bizarre Adventure", and Lush_50's "Nightmare Cafe" series. Krack's Kafe plays like Krack The Hack where you collect 4 keys to progress to the next level, but now in a bite sized package filled with one-screened rooms. Almost everyone in the team contributed levels for the game, with the exception of voice lines provided by scooter102089 (aka "Chaser the Ultimate Gamer").

Story:
15 years after Krack The Hack, Krack gets kicked out of a local bar in Noahna Village, resulting in getting dragged out by his brother Daizo. After being picked on, Krack is determined to get the funds to build his very own cafe! To accomplish this, he must get his hands on pure gold keys in Jinker Bolts' latest attraction: the "Key Hole". It's a cave that features his deadliest creation: "GRAND ADMIRAL KRAWN", a robot that can project any environment at any place at any time. Little does Krack know, he's not alone...

NOTE: To hear the majority of the "voice acted" dialogue, say YES to cutscenes and NO to summaries. The plot summary only includes the bare necessities to understand the story (the intro only).

Featuring special guest voice actors like drkrdnk and Memory Martin.

Current version: v1.0.2d Includes a lot of QOL improvements + a health meter for the boss. See more in the changelog.
A "Definitions & Names To Know.txt" is included to better understand the story and characters. This is only necessary if you intend to view cutscenes in full.

God, for my first ever Standard Very Hard romhack completed from the site, I gotta say Krack's Kafe has been one of my most fun experiences, and my first real introduction to one-screen room challenges.

I had a wholesome livestream running, which made the mood feel a lot better especially when I conquered some of the most fun and sometimes annoying (YIKES!) puzzles. But hey, there were tons of fun solutions, and some of the rooms were pretty clever in the way they are solved (such as attempting to defeat a Wild Ptooie to get to the next key or even using the stretchy switches to reveal a set of keys.)

The voice acting and story were some of the most hilarious stuff I've ever seen from the romhack. Honestly, it was a really good balance of comedy and action. I liked the voices for Jinker Bolts and GRAND ADMIRAL KRAWN, especially as someone who likes robotic voices a huge ton. My favorite cutscene has to be the hell one. I'm pretty sure you probably know what I'm talking about.

Lastly, I just wanna say props to Daizo for the boss in the romhack, it was VERY fun and it had some of the best yet simple sightreading I've ever seen.
I liked how the eyes flashed different colors and patterns whenever Krawn was about to launch different attacks like the fireballs and the Sumo Bro lightning. Glad there's a healthbar too, which helped me motivate myself to finish the fight! The best part is adding a checkpoint with the ability to be big again so you can get the fight down in one go.

Honestly, if I'd want someone to try a Standard: Very Hard romhack and if they're also a fan of one-screen puzzles and other similar hacks (see: Nightmare Cafe and 100 Rooms of Enemies, which were some of the inspirations for this romhack), I'd definitely recommend checking out Krack's Kafe. Peace!

Removed the "Standard: Hard" difficulty, as per mutiple difficulties are meant for hacks that mix Standard and Kaizo.

Just finished krack's kafe
It sure was fun to figure out how to get each key by each room.
But those go back blocks were annoying and funny at same time.
Played on real hardware, so no save stating at all #smrpg{:D}

Getting some "100 rooms of enemies" vibes from here
Probably because DDV is part of the team

5 guys got together, smoked some weed, and put out a banger single-room challenge hack that is the equivalent to the best kind of CBT.

Fun hack with a few frustrating sections ("Go Back" blocks...).

Added Kaizo: Beginner difficulty. While many rooms follow a design often found in Standard: Very Hard (e.g. having to avoid getting killed by a bunch of sprites), others are Kaizo (very tight, with one intended solution, and few sprites, all of which are necessary).

Some notes:

- I noticed some grammar errors in the lore, in case you wish to have it proofread. I volunteer if you want to send me a text file with it.
- I beat this in one sitting but you may want to include a mechanism for saving room progress for people who want to take a break.
- There's some cutoff.
- Consider indicating the horizontal position of the player when they're above the screen, which would notably help in this room.
- On multiple occasions, I was killed by spinjumping on two enemies at the same time, most prominently in this room. Consider using this patch to fix.
- This room appears to have a single intended solution but has a break. Instead of grabbing the throw block on the top left, which is quite hard to do, it's possible to just run through the Wild Ptooie Piranha with the I-frames from landing on the muncher.
