Description: | This is the collaboration hack of SMWCentral's 2nd Old School Level Design Contest from 2021. With 121 entries and 4 switch palaces totaling at 150 exits, this is the second longest SMW romhack to date. The compilation was kept as vanilla as possible to keep with the "SMW-like" feeling. Some exceptions were made however, such as on the overworld and markers for exits, dragon coins, and moons. Despite this, for 100% completion you will only need to get all the exits. Additionally, pressing start anywhere on the overworld will warp you back to Yoshi's House. We hope you enjoy! |

A single full playthrough of the level (including dragon coins and the 3-up moon) can be found here. As happy as I was that the level ranked 24th out of 125 entries (whether that's deserved, who knows?), I am aware that the level had some pretty big design flaws. Notably, getting through the entire 2nd section and then the boss fight on top is especially difficult (partly due to me not knowing about the 1-up checkpoint trick), and the level as a whole was too long. Also, the placement of secrets was pretty bad - 3/5 of the dragons coins, as well as the pipe to the 3-up moon, are all hidden offscreen. Rest assured, all criticisms are taken into consideration and they're things that I'll try to improve on in future entries.
I'm not experiencing these problems on my end. Normal checkpoints save properly on all save files 1, 2 & 3 when playing this on latest snes9x version
also 1ups are never saved but collected 3up moons are saved - always begin or resume a saved game with 5 lives
edit 10/31 - commented in the forum about a day ago that the game freezes in the Sky Battalion auto-scrolling stage when collecting a cape feather off screen or out of the viewing field, which can be fixed if the Feather Autoscroll Freeze Fix were applied to this game
