Submission Details

Name: Paper Mario Styled Mario
Authors: Heitor Porfirio, paveldechev0604
Added:
Type: Original
Purpose: Player, Overworld
Slots Used:
Palette Row(s) Used: 8
Description: These graphics were completely inspired on Paper Mario, thus creating a new design for the player!
It also includes:

  • Poses for castle destruction cutscenes
  • Overworld sprites
  • Blushing faces
  • A custom hammer that's used in castle #3 destruction cutscene
  • Alternate poses of your choice! They are located at the very end of the main graphics file.

No custom palette needed, and the 32x32 Player Tilemap Patch is required to work!

Be sure to give credits to paveldechev0604 for these sprites, ripped from this sheet!

Considering Paper Mario was based on SMW Small Mario, we've come full circle.

I'll go ahead and make a 16×32-friendly version of it. (I'll be using MM102's Character Development Kit v2 and aseprite for making.)

Looks cool, though!

I don't know if it would perfectly fit some poses at this size, since in the sheet I ripped, some poses are quite large compared to the normal size of Super Mario World, and there is no alternative version that is a little smaller. But still, good luck, and thanks for the feedback!

You're welcs, Heitor. I looked at the sheet and there are 16×32 versions of the poses, which make them easier to put them in the Character Devkit. And good news: I've finally got it done! Will be submitting this as an update.
