Custom Turnblock

SMW Blocks → Custom Turnblock

Submission Details

Name: Custom Turnblock
Author: spooonsss
Added:
Act As: 130
Includes GFX: No
Description: A turnblock that behaves mostly like the original. Useful for changing palettes or customizing the asm.

Requires pixi 1.40 for the included bounce sprite.

Check the readme file for adjustments that may be required to ensure proper functionality.

Note: hitting more than 4 at a time will not revert to the turnblock, but some blocks will be left spinning forever.

Note: blocks on layer 2 moving down will crush the player instead of activating the block.

Tested with:
- Lunar Magic 3.40
- GPS 1.4.4
- Pixi 1.40 and 1.42
- Mesen 2 beta
- fastrom and SA1 pack 1.40

I added a single readme as an extra way to try and make sure more users catch and understand the tweaks you need to make to get this to work. I also added a note about a 2nd bugged routine in Pixi 1.40 that caused layer 2 blocks to not function, which is fixed in 1.42, and removed the list item 'BasicBounce.asm' since it seemed to not reference anything provided by pixi/gps or within this resource.

Functions well as a simple resource that allows visual customization as well as a template for programmers.

I tested it on a clean ROM(PIXI 1.41 and GPS 1.4.4), and when the player hits this block, it changes to tile number 100, and after a while it changes to 0FF.

Thanks to Mellonpizza for putting the instructions to set it up in the readme.txt. (From your description, it sounds like the RAM addresses weren't set up properly)
