Found a potentially major issue: If the player enters the level "Undersea Cave 2" with Yoshi, then they can get stuck above the message box that mentions how black damage blocks are turned into coins with the blue-POW.

If the player turns that black block there into a coin with the nearby switch, then swims above the message box to collect that coin while riding Yoshi, they can get totally trapped, and may be forced to wait out the timer to die, which is HUGE in this level, so it could be around a 10-minute wait or so.

Here's how I'd suggest fixing this issue: Change the cement block near the black block there into another black block. Then, the player will either collect both coins and can't get stuck at all, or if they somehow get stuck in there anyway (which they'd likely have to be trying to intentionally do at that point), they can at least easily suicide quickly on the new black block.

I had plenty of fun with this hack, and I was especially fond of how it handles secret exits, which even some of powerup houses had. While the hack didn't seem to become difficult by the end, there wasn't a dull moment with it for me. The custom powerups and additional switch palaces to the original ones were unexpected, and it was pleasant to see that they were incorporated nicely to the overall design of this hack.

I gotta say that the center scroll really threw me off at the beginning, and while I got used to it eventually, it still took away some of my enjoyment, especially with vertical scrolling.
Also there's something up with the goal sequence circle fade that sometimes flickers like crazy. I'm not sure if it's emulator specific, or something elegible for a "epilepsy warning" tag - for the time being, I'm leaving the submission without it.

I had a lot of fun with this hack I decided to choose this as the first hack after a long absence to get accustomed to Super Mario World movement again and it did a great job as its levels weren't too difficult.

However at some point I guess I got too accustomed or the difficulty curve was was flattening. I think asides from a few levels (like the airship one in World 6) none of the levels really felt particular challenging, most of the times they were very short that I even didn't saw the the need for an midway point. I would've expected that the later levels get harder, but to me it didn't felt like a significant increase.

I think the hack benefits from a surprise factor that frequently you will encounter new crazy ideas that lives up to the games name. Yet there were also many bland uninspired levels that have no recognizable factor. Especially towards the end it looked like the creator was running out of ideas.
It seems to use all kind of plug-ins and ressources scattered around here, it mixes them wildly but never explores them in-depth, (that bob-slide car level felt like a tech demo)

Sometimes level are based around a theme, but often times it's just like a lot of different hazards and enemies make up for one obstacle course, a good one most of the time, yet they feel kinda arbitrary. It doesn't help that some levels look really basic in visuals, having really nothing eye-catching going on. There are many levels with a flat high ceiling, i'm not that much into optics, yet it was quite noticable.

This sounds more negative than it should be but I think the hack overall is more than the sum of its parts, due to its high amount of surprises. Especially the large variety of power-ups made it feel rewarding. There are probably way too many for the length of the hack, especially mini mario and the electric flower are basically just there for two levels, but being rewarded with item rooms that consists of a plethora of these power ups you encountered made the game feel pretty free flow, offering freedom of player expression due to the power ups.

My favourite level could've been the troll house, unfortunelately the creator doesn' seem to know what "trolling" really means.
Not sure if this was patched in later on, but the text boxes completely destroyed the whole purpose of the level. To me making a trolling level means challenging the player to a game of wits. Such levels result in Trial & Error kinda, but that's only because you couldn't predict the moves of the level creator, in trolling levels you have to outsmart them and question the natural way of progression. I think even for trolling levels there can be good design and indeed this is a very well executed one, with even some very fun puzzles (the keyhole idea was genius) but the textboxes, constantly spoilering every trap, telling you exactly what you need to do, obliberating the whole premise of the level, like you have a backseating friend, telling you exactly how to play.
It's a shame cause without the textboxes, the level could've been an unique semi-final.
I would really consider removing the textboxes in a potential future update or just leave them for the first couple of rooms so the player gets the hang out of it. When worst comes worst they will savestate nontheless, having an guide tour through a place that should "troll" you, doesn't feel like trolling and having to ignore them doesn't make it feel like a battle of wits.

Perhaps the special world truly was the point where I was thinking that the creator is a little bit to nice to the player, as the level previously, that huge tower was probably meant to be the hardest level in the game, yet the second checkpoint that even drops you behind the bossfight, kinda made it quite smooth sailing. I kinda like the idea of having the most mechanical demanding level first, and then offering a second demanding level afterwards in a completely different way, yet both kinda fail to meet its potential due to the creator being too nice.

Sorry that was probably a lot of rambling. It is definitely one of the better hacks I played, even when not the most memorable one. But perhaps some critique to explore is worthwhile too I would give this Hack a 8/10 just because some things felt a bit random, not polished or was just too player tampering. But the overall progression was natural, Switch Palaces were used very great (yet again, why are some of them puzzles and some not????) there were a lots of different ways, an alternative world 5 for some reason (which still was a very nice surprise)

Custom bosses felt just as random and were very hit or miss but I like at least that there are some nice bosses here and there. I especially liked the Undine one.

Ok enough with the rambling, it's still a good hack that I can recommend especially for beginners. I just think the difficulty could be changed to "Standard: Normal", due to the large amount of checkpoints and a non trolling trolling house.

hi everyone... I'm stuck in the Trolling House. How do I exit the place? I collect all the coulered spheres, except any green objet, but after all nothing happens. Is there another way to finish it apart from getting all spheres? Thanx

I was liking this hack a lot but had to stop playing becuase the hitbox of the whale boss was very bad. It hit me many time when I was clearly not touching it. Just for that I gave it 3 star becuase the rest of the levels I played I liked them a lot.

I’ve finally completed the Hack and I have to say it wasn’t too bad to play like your other Hack Where Is Here which I really hope gets revamped at some point because I was enjoying it until I couldn’t get past a certain level. Anyways back to SA-Special Adventure 1 really loved the new power ups in this Hack they really came In super handy especially for really annoying enemies, also really loved the music choice it was really great and I really liked the map and level designs as well. This Hack wasn’t to frustrating to play for me for some reason I don’t know why but I do know that I really enjoyed everything about it and the mechanics it has so I give this Hack a 10/10 and 5 stars, really hope to see another amazing SMW Rom Hack like this in the further future. Great work on this Hack. #tb{:]}#smw{:TUP:}#ab{:)}

Canoe is a very buggy emulator, mainly if it is about SA-1 and it isn't too much recommended to play rom hacks either.

How did this pass moderation? My game freezes when I get to a certain point in the first star world level. The hack is also a little rough around the edges. Black bars keep appearing at the top of the screen and the level end circle glitches out.
Anorakun From older version: SA-1: Special Adventure - 1 Link
Would be a bit more helpful if you mentioned which console / emulator did you use to play. Not everyone has the same setup, so the creator can investigate and update it.
Anas From older version: SA-1: Special Adventure - 1 Link
On Snes9x here, and I never experienced any freeze in the first star world level, but you are definitely right on the black bars appearing for seemingly no reason as well as the level end circle glitching out in certain levels. Not to mention you die in the title screen for some reason and thus are perma-locked into the title screen level. (Also, why does the title screen say 'Special Advence 1'?) Finally, the world 3 castle boss's hitbox is bigger than it looks, which is a bit annoying. Same thing with the fish projectiles it throws.

Leaving these aside, I actually enjoyed the hack a lot so far. Many of the levels have interesting design and gimmicks as well as aethetics in some places (i.e., custom palettes, mode 0 usage, etc.), and the custom powerups are also very nice to have here.

I’m past 60% of the Hack so far and I have come across no game braking problems on the emulator I’m using on my WII and the emulator is called SNES9X GX, how ever I have come across the black bar as well and the circle glitch at the end of the level but I’m still able to play the Hack freely, but one thing I will mention is that the Yellow Para Troopas have a janky hit box, when you jump directly on them you end up taking damage which is really annoying but apart from that I’m still really enjoying the Hack and exploring all the levels including the ones with blue dots as well, really amazing mechanic having 3 exits in one level, still no problem with the Hack on my emulator on my WII though.

What a awesome and fun hack this was to play. The amount of powerups and also the 3 exit levels. Got all 118 exits. Definitely 5 star rating
NatsuFireball From older version: SA-1: Special Adventure - 1 Link
Clearly one of the best vanilla hacks I've ever played, with highly polished levels ans a wonderful overworld design.

The very high number of power-ups and the 3 exits levels really made it wonderful !

Some bosses were hard but nothing unbeatable.

My only complaint is the Yoshi Coin tracker : having put it inside your hack is a great idea, however it doesn't save in SRAM... which means you only get the number of all-Yoshi Coin-cleared levels only for the current game session. This would have been so great to have it saving in SRAM, as in JUMP hacks, so that the player could keep track of their true 100% completion on the game =]

10/10 (5 stars) Thank you for this masterpiece =]

Started playing this hack a week ago and I'm almost finished with it, and I can say that it does a very good job of appearing like an official game. This hack was very well made in terms of level design; it almost felt Nintendo-esque. The custom ASM used in some of the levels was brilliant, and I truly enjoyed them, particularly that one level where you had to
view all the left arrows and warp behind the foreground SMB3-style
. The level design in this hack reminds me of a few Japanese hacks I've played. One can easily tell work was put into this hack.

The difficulty was balanced for the most part, with a Normal difficulty then progressing to Hard in the later worlds. The secret exits were generally not too difficult to find, although there were some cryptic ones here and there. The only boss fight that felt very difficult was the
World 7 boss that throws ice balls at you
. That boss was a serious difficulty spike for me, and it took a few savestates and a few rewinds for me to defeat it.

The music was also done very well. Some levels had the vanilla Super Mario World soundtrack, while others had custom music, which isn't really an issue for me. I was particularly fond of the songs used from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars and Super Mario Bros. 2 (SMAS Version).

#lm{pal}#lm{pal}#lm{pal}#lm{pal}#lm{pal} stars out of 5! This hack needs to be downloaded to be truly experienced, and is a must-play for those looking for something very lengthy. #smrpg{y}

This is such an incredible hack. Level design was amazing and just about every power up you can think of
(Mushroom, Fire flower, cape, tanooki, racoon, frog, penguin, super ball, propeller hat, ice flower, bubble flower, hammer suit, boomerang suit, shell suit, mini mushroom, cat bell, bubble flower, cloud flower, rocket boots, electric flower)
. The difficulty I would describe as a little harder than the original SMW. It's very fair and the secret exits are not overly complicated.

I was stuck at 99.2% (117 exits) for the longest time without knowing which exit I was missing. I had all the red dot exits, all the blue dot exits and castle exits. There was one exit however that took me VERY VERY long to find which was in
Trolling House in the special world

I did find a glitch though. When fighting Bowser I has the electric flower power up and when you hit bowser he just *POOF* disappears. Then you are soft locked in the room until the timer runs out. Luckily I beat Bowser before finding this glitch so I was able to Start+Select out of the level.

But this hack is a solid 5/5 #lm{owexstar}#lm{owexstar}#lm{owexstar}#lm{owexstar}#lm{owexstar}. Simply amazing!
