Description: Memento Mori is an intermediate platforming hack with a few gimmicks thrown in.
There are 2 different paths you can choose to play throughout the game.

There have been too many things that have bothered me about the original version of this hack I made almost 3 years ago.
So I finally decided to completely remake it using the Flux baserom.
It is still the same hack, but almost every level has setups tweaked or redesigned.
I also massively overhauled the aesthetics and used some new ports.

If you never played this before, I hope you like it.
If you are familiar with the original version, I hope you can appreciate all the changes.

Thanks LightAligns for the awesome boxart.

Thank you for playing.

The truth is out there.

This has become one of my favorite hacks. All of the sections were incredibly well made and satisfying to clear. 10/10

I finally got around to playing this. What an amazing hack packed full of great ideas, great platforming, and great aesthetics. Had a delightful time with this. Amazing work!

A great rework to an already classic banger. GG's, Saela! P.S. Nice box art, Light #smw{:peace:}

This hack was, for me, very difficult, but incredibly fun and rewarding to play. You must be an accomplished platformer and have some knowledge of shell jumps & kaizo tricks, but at the Intermediate level.

100% is really worth the effort IMO. Elegy and Redux were extremely fun levels. I literally couldn't get enough of this hack.

Hands down my absolute favorite hack so far, 5/5

Memento Mori is translated from Latin to mean, “remember you must die.” While this fits perfectly as the name of a Kaizo SMW hack, and assuming this was Saela’s intention; me being the Gundam nerd I am, I spun my thumbnail in another direction.

Another amazing hack from Saela, I liked this one even more than Silencio. Definitely check it out!! Thanks Saela!!

Final Rating = 5/5 - A must play!

Excellent mechanics, really fun platforming levels. Only level I didn't like was the runspeed swimming level. That felt janky and slippery to control. I eventually got used to it, but really did not like it. The rest of the hack was very fun.

The 8 other reviews for this hack (and its previous version) do suggest that. Hope you feel better.

Decent hack that didn't do much for me. There were some standout levels towards the end - the down-rope level, the L-to-freeze-Mario level, and the bump-up-the-blocks level come to mind - but there were also some truly miserable levels like the water level. Also, I started to notice some recurring tricks in a bad way. A good half of the levels have the player racing a p-switch timer, which gets old.

The aesthetics and the largely droning soundtrack definitely diminished my ability to appreciate the hack. For me, Mario is my happy escape from work, but the atmosphere of this hack is quite grim. Outside of the standout levels, I couldn't get in a good mood while playing. Maybe it's just me.

This slipped under my radar last month, so glad you posted an update because: Finally yes! A fun 'entry-intermediate' hack that's a fine example of great level design and creativity. Thank you!

Honestly maybe the most pure fun I've had with a romhack. Every level prioritizes enjoyable inputs and timings over difficulty (although it's still pleasantly difficult). 5/5

One of the best times I have had playing a hack. Saela absolutely killed it with every level.

Incredibly fun hack with great platforming and fun ASM choices throughout. The music and aesthetics are on point as well.

10/10 nice and fun setups, I enjoyed the platforming and the ASM trough the levels. Great work, Saela.

5 star rating. 10/10 gameplay. One of the highlights in 2021. A must play. Thanks Saela for this hack.

Extremely clever and creative setups throughout the entire hack. I thoroughly enjoyed this and would certainly put it among my favorite hacks of 2021.

I had a great time with this hack. I agree this is intermediate level, but it also has a level of polish that you don't always see with 1.0 releases.

I thoroughly enjoyed the pure platforming as well as the various ASM used throughout the hack. The
freezing with L
ASM in particular was a highlight for me.

Great work and I can't wait to see what you come up with next!
