Description: I made a 'vanilla cape' kaizo romhack that focuses mostly on speed control during flight. This means speed oscillation, float delay and cape spin turnaround are not patched. The intention is to prevent you from relying on patched turnarounds as a way of controlling your movement and embrace other techniques.

Some parts are intended to be played in a slow and considered manner, whereas others will demand a faster pace where death is part of the learning process. The majority of sections are approximately 40 in-game seconds in length when completed as intended.

Required skills include
- good understanding of the takeoff meter and conditions for flight
- fine control over slowing down and speeding up
- recovering from 0 speed
- slowing down AND speeding up during sticky flight

You will NOT be required to perform
- cape spin turnarounds
- spin-flight
- duck flight
- yoshi flight

It may help to be comfortable with vanilla turnaround strats or backwards pumping for the purposes of recovering or stalling but neither are required. You may need to plan ahead if you are not utilising these techniques.

Cape is hard and I would recommend training with "Learning to Fly" by DJLocks and NewPointless if you are not already an experienced cape gamer.

L+R+Select on Overworld will reset your checkpoints

Good luck

v1.1 includes addresses some readability issues and unintended strats. Details are provided in readme.txt

I really enjoyed playing this! The controlled and often improvisational flying featured here is exactly the type of cape gameplay I love the most. Thank you for making this wonderful hack!

Very fun! Takes the fun parts of slow flying and speed control and makes it accessible. Big recommend to the cape heads and to those who would like to get better.

Pretty fun. Didn't love the first half, finding some of the flow awkward and setups confusing (wish I had looked through the screenshots before playing). I also got tired of the rope/net setups where you have to look at Mario's hands to determine flight direction. I would've vastly preferred patched turnaround. The second half which deals more with controlling speed was more fun. Overall, a solid cape hack with a really nice overworld.

With a hint of sauce, I soar in boundless light,
Cape aficionado, in perfect flight each night.
Embracing vanilla cape, the challenge feels so right,
Each level's crafted art, a pure gamer's delight.
Through pixelated dreams, I navigate the air,
In Drk's creation, I found magic everywhere.

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,
I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air . . .

Really fun and very creative setups that will help you understand controlled flight and recovery from 0 or negative speed. Very well designed, really nice aesthetics and each set up is well thought out and has great flow. Nice work!

Aside from a few small breaks, the hack has some great ideas.

Great hack. Got all moons and
beat the boss
. My left facing double pumps even got a bit better after this one. Still hard to do though!

Lots of great levels to help learn cape control and recovery. I especially love the creative takeoff setups. And it looks good too! Thanks for all your work on this! 5/5

This is going to be a go-to recommendation for people that have done learning to fly but want to get better at controlling cape speed.

The levels are really creative utilizing lots of different vanilla mechanics. The varied levels make this really fun to play!

Awesome work on this, thanks for making an approachable vanilla cape hack! That's not an easy task. 5/5

Though it suffered from toxic buzz at the time of its release, InertAshronaut is ultimately an ambitious misfire: an extravagant cape hack with some decent moments and a lot of silly ones 5/5 #smw{:trollface:}

Highly recommend for any cape heads!

Fun hack! I enjoyed, quite a bit. Throughout. Every level flows well, the ideas are solid and well-executed, nothing to complain about.

A masterpiece, this hack reached the top... curious what is going to be next level of kaizo hacks #smw{:trollface:}

Jokes aside, it's an incredible hack. The care you put into this hack really shows.
great job
