The 6th Annual Vanilla Level Design Contest: Collaboration Hack

Super Mario World Hacks → The 6th Annual Vanilla Level Design Contest: Collaboration Hack

Submission Details

Name: The 6th Annual Vanilla Level Design Contest: Collaboration Hack
Author: SMW Central
Added:
Demo: No
Hall of Fame: No
Length: 114 exit(s)
Type: Standard: Normal
Description: This is a standalone compilation of the 84 entries submitted to SMW Central's Sixth Annual Vanilla Level Design Contest from 2013. Arranged on an open custom overworld, you may play the levels in any order you wish. Four switch palaces are also included.

As VLDC6 had a considerably more restrictive ruleset than other VLDCs, this collab seeks to reflect that quality by minimizing its use of custom resources. You will find little in the way of custom graphics, music, or ASM here.

Enjoy!

This door in Magikoopa Fun House which is supposed to go to the moon room (Yes, this level has a moon in the original entry, and the hack doesn't say this level has a moon) instead goes to level 0. You can reveal this door by collecting the 3 coins above the midpoint, then leaving the room with the midpoint and coming back.

You're right about that, I'll fix it. Thanks for noting this.

Edit: Now fixed.

Great Hack. I really enjoy all the Collaboration Hacks. Now iam waiting for 2-5:)
Is there also a version of the hacks available were you have to explore the world?

VLDCs 2-5 were compiled in Six Pack, which also includes the VLDC1 and VLDC6 levels too. As far as I know there is no VLDC where you have level-by-level progression, all of them have open overworlds where you can play any level (or almost any level) immediately.

Is the level "The Koopa Hills" possible. There is a part with a seemingly impossible jump with bullet bills that you can only see when you jump off of the platform. I tried to make them shoot so I can jump off them but mario is just a little too far away for him to be able to jump off the highest one in time (there is a platform above). Is there a secret that I'm missing or does the level have a kaizo strat in it (I've never played kaizo before so I don't know any of the strats). I want to 100% this rom hack so if anyone knows what I'm talking about, pls help.

I think I know what section you are talking about. There should be some grayish fence tiles spanning the gap; these are actually vine tiles that you need to climb on. No advanced tech is required, the level just doesn't communicate this tile's property to the player very well.

Omg really. Thank you so much!

Now we need VLDCX and VLDC13 collab hack. Expecting 220+ exits for vldcx and 83 exits for VLDC 13. Because there is now VLDC14 brewing. I know VLDCX will be a hell to comply but still waiting even if it took 2 years maybe

Sorry to say, but VLDC13 is probably not happening because the Map16 Page 0/1 rules.
