Description: This hack is dedicated to all the good pooches of the world.

Each level has at least one hidden dog portrait.

Levels are on the shorter side; not meant to destroy but to enjoy.

I had a tremendous amount of fun making it, and I hope you all enjoy playing it!

V1.2 Updates:
- (Major) Remastered the hack so it is no longer SA-1; everyone should be able to play it just fine now
- (Major) Added 'bone' overworld indicators next to level names to show whether or not you found the dog portrait(s) in the level. Just give the dogs a bone!
- Reworked second half of 'Blackreach'
- Adjusted some set-ups to even out difficulty spikes
- Added offscreen indicator for Mario
- Changed the music in two levels

V1.1 Updates:
- Fixed graphical errors in a few levels/overworld
- Standardized on/off graphics across levels to improve clarity
- Adjusted background in Shanty Bog to improve clarity
- Adjusted a set-up in Bailey Bluffs for clarity
- Adjusted and simplified graphics in New Donk for clarity
- Added some message boxes to hint/explain certain gimmicks
- Added some additional hints/indicators for hidden pups
- Added a list of music used

Had a great time playing it, loved the doggos and the boss was beautiful.

A pretty solid first hack! There were a great deal of setups that were nearly impossible to do on the first attempt, requiring dying to them multiple times to actually understand what to do; personally not a fan of that but to each their own I guess.

The screenwrap level was extremely confusing with the spiny section, I think you had the player fall through the death one-way to try to "teach" the player how it works, but it all happens so fast that I didn't even personally notice the death one-way, and even if I had I may still be confused about the fact that I can jump through the bottom; probably would've been nice to force jumping through one upwards (like you have to do to grab the spiny) very early in the level to lessen confusion. The outdoors level with the boos (something about "Bailey" I think?) could have definitely used more indicators on the boos considering that the normal/spin jump boos appear basically identical, some were indicated but not all.

It does use SA-1. I play-tested on emulator (SNES9x), a Super NT (albeit with 2DSNES/FXPak Pro), and I play-tested on SNES Classic (if using hakchi, click on the name of the hack, press ctrl+alt+E and change the preset ID to 109C and it should work).

This is my first hack, so I was running blind with regards to SA-1 or no SA-1. I'm not sure it needed to have SA-1, but I'm not sure if it's removable at this point.

That's unfortunate to hear. The testing you've done is good, but anyone who plays on a Super NT without an FXPak won't be able to run load it. The NT doesn't do SA-1 on its own. You probably should add a tag and/or edit the hack description, just so people will know ahead of time if they'll be able to play it or not.

For future reference if you make another hack (and I hope you do!), most kaizo hacks tend not to use SA-1 unless they really need it.

I'm sorry I won't get to play this one! I saw Barb playing it this morning and it looked very fun.

Does this hack use SA-1 or something? It won't load on my Super NT, which is a shame because I want to see all the dogs.
