hackfan-made game. A close point of comparison would be Grand Poo World 3, where most levels have their own chocolate gimmick, which is fully explored within that level. The obstacles flow nicely with just the right amount of brainy-ness to the setups. You have to think, but nothing feels convoluted. I also want to shout out the high production values. Everything looks and sounds great, particularly the overworld, which is just incredible. The only thing I didn't care for were the four shell levels. They are quite hard (and long), and I ended up spending something like a third of my playthrough time on them. Because the shell levels are so similar to one another and so different from the rest of the game, they feel like they should just be in their own hack. I guess if you're not obsessive about 100%ing like I am, you can just skip them and play the awesome platforming levels. But personally, I would have enjoyed the game more without the shell levels. That said, I still enjoyed Simpatico tremendously and would love to see a followup from this creative team.
Great so far though!
Stay tuned for 1.5!
