Description: Hi There!

I made this over the past ~6 months to finally contribute something to this website.
There is a wealth of resources at SMWCentral, and I've always wanted to try my hand at creating something with them.

Making this was a very real challenge, and finding time to learn how to use Lunar Magic along with a full time job, a partner, and regular life was the most difficult part.

However, while putting this together was time consuming, my time building this was fun.

I tried to aim for an intermediate experience, with a mix of easier levels to balance things out for newer players.
Most setup's strategies are "Just Go," but some require timing.
There's also some precision stuff, but nothing too bad.

Thanks for checking it out!

Hello Again,

Please note, as the previous versions had overworld bugs,
if you played those versions (1.0-1.1) and then this latest version, the overworld events will still be broken.

You will need to rename the patched ROM to something different, like "Pandarosa 1.3 .smc" and start a new save.

playing only 1.5 on snes9x & cloudbusting did not trigger an overworld event

Thanks so much for playing #smrpg{cool}

Hmmm, that's so strange, I'm sorry to hear you're having troubles with the overworld events.

I tested 1.5 with my PC using snes9x (1.62.3), my MiSTer with the latest OS and SNES version, and also an anbernic handheld with snes9x (1.62.3). I was able to complete the hack on each of those.

I was watching Laserbelch play 1.5 the other day and they also completed it on stream.

Hi! Just wanted to report that the overworld event after Cloudbusting doesn't trigger in version 1.4 I played on Mister FPGA and never played or even had any of the previous versions.

Hi Dangil,
Thanks so much for playing!

Hmmm, that's so strange. I've watched other folks beat the game - Shoujo during moderation, drkrdnk, Chambo, (and myself).
& When I tested each version past 1.1, I patched with a clean.smc, gave each ROM a unique name, and was able to complete them.

I also asked the powers that be (AmperSam) to take a look at the hack, and they ran it by the other hack mods to see if something else was going on. They could not find an issue with it.

And to cover my bases and test on another system besides my MiSTer (using snes9x), I downloaded the file from smwcentral, patched it with an online rom patcher, kept the file name to what the default was from the online rom patcher, and then played through level 10 with no overworld issues.

Well :(

I was watching Katun play 1.4, and they ran into a new overworld bug.
I have some ideas about what's causing this now, and I've started making a couple more adjustments and exit changes that should trigger these events properly.
I have the final updates noted, some things finished, and will get this uploaded this weekend.

So sorry for all of these unforseen Overworld issues. I never knew this would be the trickiest part about making a hack

I also had the cloudbusting OW glitch, I just play on NT and FXPak Pro

The hack moderators took a look at this again because of the reports of an issue. This bug cannot be replicated in the version hosted on the site using common emulators, which is the baseline for approval.

Quote
Hack compatibility with the firmware of clone consoles, such as the Analogue Super Nt or MiSTer FPGA, or with flash cartridges, such as the SD2Snes or FXPak Pro, is unknown so your experience may vary on those systems.

We have this disclaimer in the Hacks section because it is infeasible for creators to predict or figure out what issues are caused by firmware inaccuracies, which seems to be the common thread here. Wouldn't be the first hack to have inexplicable issues on hardware.

This game reminds me of Gambol, which I like :D

Especially love the colours and aesthetics. I'm only on the 3rd stage, but having a fun-ish time

I try to provide honest feedback but I hope the criticism does not take away from the fact it is very clear that so much effort, care and attention to detail went into the creation. I really enjoyed my playthrough up to the point I stopped. I actually think the tougher part of the level is the spin jump after the forced medium bounce - the ceiling is too low so it's either a really tight spin jump or you hit the ceiling jumping out.

Hello!

I just downloaded ver 1.3b this morning, got through the level "Cloudbusting" and it seems that the overworld is bugged, not letting me progress to the next level.

I've been enjoying the hack, but I can't go further :)

Heya Chambo,

Wow, thanks so much for playing!

That will happen if you had downloaded an earlier version before 1.2 and created a save file. I kept the patch file names leading up to 1.4 all the same, so there's some kind of cache related save issue due to the "saving on overworld entry" patch.

But, If you download this final version, 1.4, it has a new patched rom name, so as long as the name of your patched ROM is different from the one you had before, it will be fine.

I've tested the newer versions on my MiSTer, and played all the way thru on each of them.
Should be good now.

This review is up to the level Cloudbusting, at which point I quit the hack.

Hack overall very fun. The levels vary pretty meaningfully in difficulty but I enjoyed the levels I played. Attention to detail on the overworld and music was enjoyable. I quit the hack at one particular level because the jumps were far too tight and it ruined the experience for me. I feel like this level shouldn't have made it through testing in its current form. Overall, I enjoyed what I played but I won't finish it.

Thanks for taking the time to play and leave a review, I appreciate your honest opinion.

There is a forced medium bounce in that first section of Cloudbusting, which is probably the hardest part of that level.
I know medium bounces can be tricky for me as well (1st level of memory lane).

If that level is giving you trouble, its probably a good place to stop. Cloudbusting starts off World 2, and while I wouldn't say it gets overly difficult past that, it does step up a little in difficulty.

Thanks again though, #smw{:peace:}
