In the second level, I didn't understand how to do the part after the second timed platform. Every single time I got to the room with the koopa and the switch on the ceiling, I would immediately bounce into the munchers because the cloud platform was still in the wall as I was dying, so I had nothing to stand on. I ended up having to jump back onto the cloud (during the two muncher gap) and make sure to activate the timed platform so that it moved behind the cloud instead of in front of it. The issue though with this solution, is that when you come out of the next pipe, the cloud platform immediately catches you, so you have no reason to use the koopa at all. You just stand on the cloud platform and hit the switches as they pass.
I really, really dislike the start of the third level. You have no room to jump, or to even start moving sideways as you're falling to hopefully make it under the jumping guy. And once you're on the other side, you can't just jump far away because you hit the button again. If you jump too close, you die to the muncher because you're trying to move sideways as you fall to make it under. This paired with the 40 second time limit makes this level not fun to start. Of course you can just go fast and use the same jump you use to hit the button to get back under the jumping guy, but the timing is really tight and this strat isn't consistent. Sometimes the enemy doesn't jump at all after I've hit the button, so I have to start over even though I didn't do anything wrong. Just give us a little more room to set up the trick instead of putting munchers on nearly every single possible spot. I can definitely see a beginner getting HARD stuck here and quitting the hack. The issue isn't really the speed you need to have to execute the trick with, it's the very tight space and the inconsistency of the jumping enemies that really hurts this part of the level.
The fourth level is in my opinion, the best level in the hack. No complaints here, I thought it was well executed and fun to play. The one thing that's consistently great across all the levels are the aesthetics. The color palate, background, music, it's all great. For a first hack, really well done. There are a few things that could be changed to make the first three levels more enjoyable, but aside from those issues the rest of the rom is really nice and flows pretty well. 4/5.
I really like the music of the level "Downtown". What is the name of the music?
I tried to use this tool to find it, maybe its database is too old.
edit: Found it in the Credits.
Otherwise it's solid but the timer really makes no sense here.
Very nicely done.
