The movement, by contrast, feels great in almost every level. The obstacles remain readable despite the cluttered aesthetics. Maddy often gives the player time to scout things out, but everything can be done fast in smooth flowing motion once you have strats for each setup. I never felt like anything was blind or unfair or even tight. I suspect that great care was taken in balancing this hack.
The main world brings the levels together nicely and pulls off the feat of making Masterpiece feel like a proper game rather than a compilation. The overworld is more than just a bridge between levels. The player must explore it thoughtfully to reach the endgame.
There is an extensive post-credits section of what could be called "DLC" or "sidequests," but instead is called "Chapter 2." I felt let down when I finished this section, because I thought it was building to a true ending. But you just beat a last throwaway level, get a funny message, and then you're done (unless I'm missing something, although my exit count makes it seem like there's no more). Personally, I found this unsatisfying.
Overall though, I had a lot of fun with Masterpiece. My favorite levels are anything with the Monster Energy powerup, the timer-based teleportation level, and Lungfish's level.
