Description: | Help Mario jump over Koopas and stuff! Oh, and save some baby Yoshi eggs too. "It's another hack with Mario in it! Yay!" was a 2011 traditional ROM hack with a focus on gameplay and level design, and the prototype for "Adventure in Gemstone Islands." v0.2.2 is a long-overdue update that addresses sound, graphics and overworld path issues, and also tweaks the difficulty of a few stages. This demo contains 4 worlds and 41 available exits in their 2011 incarnations. |

A good hack, simple but fun and I like it. But I see you used an addmusicM. Where can I get it? I wanted to try it ^^
The design is well made. It's kinda traditional, it recalls the original Mario games' style of design a bit, and it's fun to play. If I have to point out nipticks, I'd say that some of the secret exits were placed kinda unfairly, like in "SPINY WOODS", where you can't even see the pipe you're supposed to take for it. Other than this, I have nothing more to say.
Aesthetics are okay. The author uses vanilla elements mainly, with some custom enemies' gfx, which is pleasant to see. Some custom palettes look a bit off (mainly the ones of the cave's BG), and there's one level that reveals huge cutoff when getting the goal tape. It's a good hack in terms of aesthetics though.
Some issues:
- Some musics make weird noises, but they're not too noticeable. Not sure if tagging a fixme here, since the hack doesn't break.
- The secret exit in "SPINY WOODS" brings the player back, and not on the Blue Switch palace. Due to this, many of the levels and secret exits of the rom can't be completed.
Overall, a good hack. 3/5.
