Tip: A common level trope to avoid is "item babysitting". This involves forcing the player to carry P-Switches, springboards, or other items all around the level. Usually, this doesn't end up being very fun or engaging, so use another level gimmick if you can.

Somebody needs to rewrite and bring a major update for an overworld sprite inserter to be compatible with PIXI.

There's not even a single overworld sprite!

SMWCentral could really use a centralized tool for Overworld Sprites and users who are willing to make them.
It's just a shame that this got thrown to the wayside

There are currently no overworld sprites hosted in the section, so the desire for them is rather small. I think that's why the project is going slowly. Anyhow, it also means it's not the highest priority. All of this will get sorted out eventually, but do keep in mind that this is just a hobby for everyone involved - real life comes first.

Yeah, we don't even have a propper and standardized overworld sprite tool replacement and this one isn't receiving support, that seems just fine lol.

Well, I found what was the problem and fixed it by changing some code in the source file and compiled it again using DevCPP. It's not patching the same thing multiple times anymore, now it correctly checks if the patch was applied to the ROM and finds the correct bank number. If anyone is interested in having the fixed version, PM me.

I doubt this tool is likely to receive much support. It's been deprecated for a while and there is currently ongoing discussion (snrk) about the future handling of overworld sprites. When (and if) people show interest in the discussion, this tool will be completely obsolete.

Can someone please compile this tool to use asar instead of xkas? (And hopefully also fix the freespace thing)?

This tool doesn't autoclean itself when inserting new sprites, meaning everytime you use it, it will eat another entire bank from the ROM. It needs to be fixed (although I doubt this tool will ever see any update from now on).

Ah, it's unfortunate that this doesn't work with SA-1.

What did VLDC9 use for the Overworld Sprites, was it this tool?

update this

Please update for SA-1 :(

That's sad, I wanted to use DKC2 arrows. (SA-1 isn't case in most of my hacks)

It's a very old tool and something that not much people use. It's very likely that LM moved something internally and broke this tool (and no one noticed until today). Also it doesn't work with SA-1.

Too bad it crashes my game and I can't read whatever error it gives me, because of how fast this thing!
