Tip: After editing your overworld, make sure to use an EMPTY save file, as save files with progress may load Mario's position based on previous versions of the overworld.
This is a great beginning for a good storyline. Too bad it never got finished.
This hack is challengy. Each level is, like, a sum up of all the levels of the original. Sometimes a few sections look like they were totally copied from the original actually, although that's how the author wanted to proceed with it, and I'm not hurted too much for it. As for the design itself, it's challengy indeed, I'd probably rate the difficulty as a normal-hard. Very fun overall, even if some sections feel like a copypaste.
Aesthetic-wise, no doubt the author was going for the gfx way. The last "level" hyped me for the story factor, and I'm very sad that it never got completed; also, for a 99% vanilla hack, that was a pleasant surprise. But anyway, most of the aesthetics kept into a vanilla style, with small addictions here and there. Pleasant enough, even if some minor cutoff is easily spotted here and there.
Some issues:
-Overworld events glitch GFX for some reason;
-You're unable to save srm-wise. Either use savestates or don't save at all.
