Tip: Make sure that ALL exit-enabled pipes, doors, etc. have a screen exit defined, or they'll take you to Level 0, the "endless" bonus game. Unless Start+Select is enabled, the only way out of it is to reset the game.
This hack was a rather pleasant surprise, quite a shame it was never finished.
The graphics are vanilla in nature and spirit for the most part, with some partial editing to give it a bit of a personal flavor. There are a couple rips from SMAS like the SMB1 cave background, but I'd argue the hack looks more vanilla, and it's done in a pretty neat way.
The level design consists of a nice variety of platforming and puzzles. The overall difficulty felt just right, and this was also one of the few hacks where the author actually used the Yoshi's Island submap to introduce Monty Moles (those of you who don't know, they wait longer to pop out there compared to other overworld maps), so props to that. Puzzles like the ON/OFF blocks and one-way paths are properly explained and expanded upon without feeling overly obtrusive. The only weak levels were the autoscrolling one due to rather long length with little activity, and the castle for being really short. One of the secrets also felt a little too well-hidden. Not saying where, but you have to find invisible coin blocks--with no hint as to where they are--to reach one of them.
If you're looking for a short, vanllia-ish hack with some ASM sprinkles added on, this might be worth your time.
