Tip: Layer 3 backgrounds and tides disappear when you hit a message box, so plan your level around that. For example, you can add a sublevel without layer 3 at the start/midpoint, and include your message there.
This hack wasn't very bad. The design is more or less good, for being a traditional one. Even if sometimes it was kind of linear, it was still fun to go through the levels. The difficulty here is very easy, since you can find a powerup easily; even if you mess up by being hit by an enemy, you will probably find another powerup very soon. It's not a bad aspect though. Overall, for being an easy hack it was good enough.
Aesthetic-wise, it's okay. I'm glad the author kept a cartoon-ish style for all the lenght of the hack. There are some parts which look a bit weird though (like the last room of the last castle, the layer 3 looks weird when matched with the normal castle BG). It's not a beautiful hack from this point of view, but atleast it keeps to one style.
- Music problems on accurate emulators.
- Massive slowdown occuring pretty often.
Overall, a small easy hack. Not the greatest, but it could go for an easy play.
