Hello, since I'm fed up of not doing anything with this hack AT THE MOMENT, I thought I would let you have a taste of my short hack in the works. This demo only includes 3 levels unfortunately, but the hack when finished will be short anyways.
2010 was the beginning of an era of decoration porn in SMW hacks. This hack is one surviving example of such. The palettes are consistently vivid - they are very earthy and appropriate for the environments they paint. At times, the detail in the ground can become overwhelming. There are many paths in a lot of these levels so you can approach a level in one of several ways, but there is no distinctive award for choosing one path over the other.
This hack has a few testing oversights which I assume were the initial reasons it did not pass remoderation: there's a Dragon coin in the final real level which was on a subscreen boundary and managed to put a hole in the background somehow, and I've found areas where you can jump over the walls of the level and get stuck inside and forced to die via a flying enemy. Nevertheless, you can tell a lot of care was put into the demo.
The often cramped nonlinearity of this hack will be an acquired taste and this hack is not for everyone. The gameplay mostly stays within the "normal" difficulty although sprite spam in some spots lean a little toward the Nintendo Hard side.
